Good Basic Ayam Penyet! There are few things in this world more satisfying than a meal that demands you put down the fork and lean into the mess. This experience was exactly that—a visceral, soul-warming encounter with fried chicken that redefined the term "finger-licking." 1. The Presentation - The basket plate arrived looking less like a meal and more like a work of art. Nestled on a bed of grease-wicking brown parchment, the chicken pieces were piled high, their jagged, craggy crusts catching the light in a way that promised a serious crunch. Sprinkled with a dusting of fresh chives and served alongside a vibrant, zesty slaw, the colors popped. It didn’t look mass-produced; it looked curated, like every piece had been hand-breaded with a specific intent to impress. 2. The Chicken - The first bite was a revelation. The skin shattered with an audible crack, giving way to meat that was impossibly succulent and steaming hot. It’s rare to find that perfect balance where the breading stays firmly attached to the bird rather than sliding off in one greasy sheet. The seasoning was deep and layered—not just salt and pepper, but a complex warmth that suggested a long brine and a secret blend of spices that lingered pleasantly on the palate. 3. The "Finger-Licking" Factor - What truly set this apart was the glaze. Brushed with a delicate honey-bourbon infusion, the chicken had a tacky, glossy finish that coated your fingertips as you ate. You don’t wipe your hands on a napkin when the flavor is this concentrated; you savor every bit of that sweet-and-savory residue. By the time the basket was empty, the pile of clean bones was the only evidence left of the carnage. The Verdict For $5.90, this wasn't just lunch; it was a sensory experience. If you’re looking for a meal that prioritizes bold textures and unapologetic flavor over "polite" eating, this is your destination.

Reasonable price, chilli sauce is tangy. Added $1 to get either a lime or Bandung. Definitely go with the lime if you order a drink. If you like the Chinese style curry, can ask to pour it over your rice. Environment is much quieter.

ayam penyet is so good !! crispy on the outside but really juicy and tender on the inside. only thing is frontier seating a bit rabak but can always do takeaway for extra 30c per box :) (or bring ur own to save the takeout charge!)
