A Eulogy for My Former Favourite - Rest in Peace, Coffee Bean I used to drink Coffee Bean religiously during my polytechnic days. It held a special place. I was loyal. I defended it. I cannot do that anymore. I ordered a coffee at around 3pm and what arrived can only be described as burnt water with ambitions. Watered down, scorched beyond recognition, with none of the qualities one might reasonably associate with a cup of coffee. I gave it every chance — sipped it throughout the afternoon, willing it to improve. It did not. It went down the drain, which was the most dignified ending available to it. I don't know what happened between then and now, but something went very wrong somewhere along the way. Seven dollars. Down the drain. Literally. McDonald's coffee is better than this. I cannot believe I am typing that sentence, but here we are. You had a permanent customer and you lost her over a burnt, watered-down $7 cup of nothing. I hope it was worth it. P.S. I wrote to customer care. What followed was three rounds of information requests — date, time, location, then payment mode and order number — before anyone even acknowledged that a problem had occurred. When I pointed out that it had been four days and that no reasonable person retains their receipt from a $7 coffee, and asked what exactly my purchase record would tell them that I hadn't already told them, they replied with a copy-paste template and signed off with "thank you for your support and understanding." I had offered neither. The coffee was bad. The customer service was worse. This brand has perfected the art of making you feel like the problem for having a problem.

Got a colleague to do an order grab for a matcha latte today from Coffee Bean @Henderson. It was the worst matcha latte I ever tasted from Coffee Bean!!! So much milk and a little matcha. I had it since morning and I can't bring myself to finish it up. This is what's still left in my cup. Please put in better effort in making ur drinks!

Big thank you to Esther from Coffee Bean 211 Henderson! I accidentally dropped my staff pass near the store, and she went out of her way to help me look for it, even stepped outside to check around. Really appreciate her kindness and effort, it’s rare to meet someone so thoughtful these days. Thanks again, Esther, you really made my day!
