The bakery food is presentable and platetable breads and colorful display that is a visual treat would have spend more if the staff is more helpful and courteous however that my personal opinion and personal experience encounter. Just a pinpoint incident

Damn rude cashier. Ordered two waffle, after paying. She said go outside and wait. This is the second times that I encounter from this cashier. Never go again.

after reading the reviews here, looks like all of them include myself faced the same issue with this particular short, plump, chinese long haired lady staff. extremely rude. maybe she feels like she own that shop. not suprise if she will be treated the same as how she treats the customer. wait till she got the a customer as rude as her. karma is real.

This morning, I received very poor service from one of your staff members. She was short and slightly plump, Chinese lady( I don’t know her name, so I describe her this way). When I asked, “Can I get a waffle?”, she replied in an unfriendly tone, “What waffle?” I said “Chocolate,” and she replied “$2.50” and asked, “Pay by?” I said “PayWave.” She then pressed something on the POS and walked away without telling me to tap or giving any instruction. I also noticed that she said “Thank you” politely to ( an Amo lady) customer, but not to me. This made me feel very uncomfortable and I couldn’t help but feel that I was treated differently, possibly due to racism. To make things worse, the waffle I received was not in good condition. This experience really spoiled my morning.

Swee Heng 1989 Classic at Changi Village is a pleasant spot for affordable, halal-certified traditional and modern baked goods. Located conveniently near the Changi Village Hawker Centre, it’s a great stop for a quick snack or a takeaway treat after a meal or before heading to Pulau Ubin. What I liked: • Freshness & Variety: The buns and cakes were fresh and warm, with a good selection of both classic local flavours and modern options. Their Hokkaido Milk Bun and Chicken Floss Roll were especially soft and satisfying. • Service: The staff were polite and efficient, handling a steady flow of customers smoothly. They were also quite patient when I asked about the ingredients in some items. • Prices: Very affordable, with most buns under $2. It’s great value for money given the freshness and portion sizes. • Halal-certified: Perfect for those looking for halal options without sacrificing variety. What could be improved: • Limited seating: Like most bakeries in heartland malls or food centres, there’s no seating available. It’s mainly a takeaway spot. • Some items run out fast: Popular pastries like the Pandan Chiffon Cake or Egg Tarts tend to sell out quickly in the late afternoon, so go earlier if you have favourites in mind. Overall: Swee Heng at Changi Village is a reliable bakery for both traditional and modern tastes. Whether you’re craving something sweet like their Chocolate Swiss Roll or something savoury like their Curry Chicken Bun, you’re likely to find a tasty option without breaking the bank. It’s a simple, satisfying stop that fits well into the laid-back charm of Changi Village.
