Came here for lunch. Friendly staff. Ordered the Beef Rendang, was a bit tough but tasty. Chicken was well fried. Overall good atmosphere and value feed.

The food was really delicious, especially the Ayam Penyet and Iga Bakar, but I was a bit disappointed with the service today. When I ordered at the counter, I asked if I could choose my sambal flavour, but the staff member told me I couldn’t. Later, I checked the QR menu and found that customers can actually choose the sambal, which was confusing. I was also misled by the side dish combo photo. It showed rice, soup, a drink, and a salad, so I expected the salad to be included. When I asked about it, the waitress simply said, “It’s just the photo.” While the description doesn’t mention a salad, the photo is misleading and should better match what’s actually included. The food was excellent, but I hope the staff are better informed about the menu and the promotional photos are updated to avoid confusion.

I’d been reading about the recent wave of new Indonesian restaurants opening across Melbourne, thanks to a string of Good Food articles and recommendations from several of my Indonesian international students. That made Ria Indonesian Street Food an easy choice. The menu leans towards classic Javanese flavours, with plenty of nasi Padang-style dishes alongside favourites such as rendang, gado-gado, satay, nasi goreng, fried chicken, beef and duck dishes. I opted for the Nasi Kapau, a generous assortment of rice served with a selection of rich, flavourful dishes in the traditional West Sumatran style. It was satisfying, full of variety, and a great introduction to the breadth of flavours on offer. The restaurant itself is clean, modern and well organised, with QR code ordering and Indonesian pop music creating a relaxed atmosphere. On a moderately busy Monday, it attracted a healthy mix of Indonesian students, office workers and a few tourists, which always feels like a good sign. Ordering was effortless, the experience was smooth from start to finish, and I’d happily return to explore more of the menu. Melbourne’s Indonesian dining scene is growing rapidly, and Ria Indonesian Street Food is a welcome addition that’s well worth a visit.

So so delicious. It is as crispy as it looks. Every crunch was heavenly. The tempeh was amazing. Beef soup - delicious. Literally ate it all and left no crumbs. I was out of breath after the meal. I am coming back again and again.
