It’s pretty hard to not like a place with such solid food at the price point. I’m seriously impressed by the spice tolerance too for one of my first times trying Indonesian food! Ordered the weak Geprek Sambalado meal which was the viral crispy smashed chicken with egg, cucumber, some kind of deep fried vegetable, rice, and a drink. Very refreshing drink especially since it’s REALLY spicy even for a “medium spicy”, think of a slightly higher spice level than fresh birds eye chilli’s you’d get at a Vietnamese pho shop. Would not want to imagine how spicy the “brave spicy” one is. The food is fantastic! Everything is fresh and it just completely nails the street food vibes. Very fragrant and flavourful, you can’t go wrong with that. Service and atmosphere is good too, and food comes out quite fast. Recommended!

The Salted Egg Sauce smashed chicken here is incredible! The chicken is perfectly crispy, and the sauce is super rich, creamy, and savory without being overpowering. It pairs perfectly with the hot white rice. Highly recommend if you want a comforting, flavorful meal!

Good Ayam Penyet spot in Melbourne. The salted egg sauce is super creamy and addictive, and the truffle flavour is a nice twist that actually works really well with the crispy chicken. Simple, tasty, and satisfying — would come back.

Disregard atmosphere, this place is a 5 star regardless. For $16 I can get some of the most delicious indo food in Melbourne? Hell yeah 😍 If you want something delicious and affordable just come here, you don’t need to go to any other places. You will leave full, satisfied and happy. Just note that there are no bathrooms here!

I recently tried Geprek in Melbourne and I’m honestly impressed. The ayam geprek was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the sambal had the perfect balance of spicy, savoury and slightly sweet. You can choose your spice level, which is great if you love heat but still want to enjoy the flavour.
