While shio pan is still in trend, bakeries have come up with creative flavours to beat the competition, for instance Toast & Roll’s shio pan series! Sweet ones eg. Taiwan red bean with mochi, Taiwan yam with mochi were softer, whereas savouries ones eg. Garlic butter were crispy but sinfully oily. I also like the Mentaiko crabstick with egg mayo for its croissant-like texture (after reheating). Special mention to the toast & donuts for cute rabbit & cat designs! IG @pingguo301

Wanted to get a single piece of kit kat shiopan on 11 July at around 2 to 2.05pm. After standing in Q, the cashier attended to a couple buying cake instead. After the couple paid for the cake, i had to wait again while the couple was considering buying another item and they attended to them yet again while waiting for them to make up their mind. I told the cashier I dont need the bread anymore and went to the nearby Paris Baguette and their pricing is competitive compared to Toast & Roll.

I've tried some of the pastries, and while I'm not nearly experienced enough to speak about the store's other facets, they have one thing I know I'll recommend everyone to try, their Kunafa (may be spelt differently). Huge, 3 dollars, and otherworldly (to the layman tastebud). Dense, crunchy, and you really get that layered mouthfeel. Have a first bite and you won't be able to stop until it's finished. That first bite and the subsequent, short-lived rest were enough to have a review of its own. Add to your bucket list right now!!! You'll be buying it every day with that unbeatable value for money. Well done. Well done. You've earned yourself a returning customer.

Admittedly I am a BIG fan of Swee Heng Bakery and this Toast & Roll outlet is one of its brands. Today was the first time that I have visited this outlet at basement level one of West Mall and it was also the first time that I have visited the recently(?) reopened food zone at this heartland shopping mall. Anyway, I took away from Toast & Roll, a box of its Chocolate Caramel Choux Puffs. At just $4.80 for 5 pieces of Choux Puffs and with all of its trimmings, they were in my opinion, more than value for money - each Choux Puff had a generous portion of cream therein, and the chocolate ribbons on top of it were a most welcoming bonus. I highly recommend that you try it, if you are a fan of Choux Puffs and/or a fan of anything chocolatey.

Quantity and quality unable to justfy price My mother and I bought the purple glutinous rice bread and both times, the quantity of filling was extremely little. There were only a few grains of glutinous rice dotting the inside, mostly it was air and bread The trays and tongs were oily and unpleasant to the touch
