Brought my mom to have dinner at Downtown East and decided to give Segar a try. Was really pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. Ordered Assam Fish Tail, Prawn Paste Chicken, Three Egg Spinach, Hotplate Beancurd and Hot Crispy Noodle for the kid. Overall standard was really good. Especially the Assam Fish Tail and the Prawn Paste Chicken. The prawn paste chicken is so far the better one I’ve eaten. (Better than Ah Tan Wings imho) Price was also very reasonable for a sit down restaurant in an aircon mall. Assam Fish Tail for $26 and 12pieces of Prawn paste chicken for $18. Would definitely come again.

Like their curry fish head. The rest taste ok but portion rather small maybe due to chinese new year season.

Their curry fish head is satisfying and savoury. I would opt for the assam version which is more sour. The fish was soft and tender. I've been to this place twice and I would believe they are quite consistent. One of the better restaurants in Downtown East, in my opinion.

Don't underestimate this zi char restaurant because they have a halal certificate! It is actually convenient to bring our moslem friends to eat chinese foods together in this place. The foods are generally above the average and the drinks are refreshing. The sweet and sour fish is on par with the high class chinese food restaurant. The taste is balanced and the fish slices are good. The only problem is only the large portion is actually quite small (so it is quite expensive). The crab meat beancurd is unique and delicious. It is basically a toufu with a crab meat thick soup. You must try it. The sambal kangkong is one of the best that I tried in Singapore. The crispy egg noodle and egg fu yong are average. The nasi goreng madness is below my expectation. The chicken satay and sambal is good but the nasi goreng itself is below standard (compare to the chinese's style or indonesia's style). The lemongrass tea is one of the most balanced that I taste in Singapore, light and refreshing!

Nice ambience, spacious seating area and good food. There's plenty of choices to choose. The soup is fantastic. Good service and food comes quite fast. We ordered quite a lot. Ample parking area.

The fried cockles kwey tiao was nicely charred but the cockles very as tiny as a grain of rice. The lamb satay was good. Mee Goreng with chicken and prawns could be but more spicy.. the Oster omelette at $12 was rather overpriced for the serving. Overall was okay.

Came in due to the Stewed Beef noodle poster but end up not available today... Order chicken fried rice instead. Fried rice is indeed big portion for the price. Have to get my own chilli even 3 floor staff available. QR ordering or cash payment available.

1. Very generous portions, thank you 🙏 Fried kway teow had nice tinge of wok hey. Yee mee tasted flat, like many other places really. Tom yum chicken soup: It's assam-ish, not your usual expected Thai tom yum flavor. Maybe I didn't grasp Segar's concept 😄 I hovered between rating a 3 and a 4. Looking at the other reviews, I am likely to go back to try their other dishes.

Made reservation to celebrate my mum’s bday and also did informed the staff I’m bring a cake over. They just make sure I will bring a halal cake and if cos I did. ☺️ The food were so delicious, portions were generous and restaurant was very clean and spacious. We finished our dishes without any waste. Keep it up. The best of all were the staffs; everyone was so well trained and smiley all time. They worked well as a team. Kudos to you staffs. Will definitely recommend friends & relatives and will surely come back again. Once again thank you 😊

Ordered F4 Ginger parsley fish slices on 22nd Nov, at about 2pm but it came deep fried. See photos. When asked, the waiter replied after 15mins,saying the fish was indeed over fried as the main chef went toilet & another chef took over. No compensation, no recook. Just an apology. Being a cook myself, working in the kitchen for 20 over years, I find it ridiculous as sliced fish 鱼片 is being deep fried. Restaurants usually deep fry when food is kept too long. This 1 star is for food. Nevertheless, staffs and atmosphere are good.
