Papa Ayam at City Square Mall - I was here today (21 January 2026) for lunch. It was my first time visiting this Papa Ayam outlet - I have dined at its other outlet at Paya Lebar Square on a couple of occasions, so I am not unfamiliar with its super spicily hot sambal, being able to take it up to level 12. Today, I ordered my usual Ayam Grepek Original and of course a Coke Zero (as a "fire extinguisher"). As always, the Ayam Grepek Original at Papa Ayam is excellent in terms of taste and texture - for example the sambal is super moreish and the chicken pieces, even when shredded, are tender and not dry. Service here was very good - friendly and courteous. The dining ambience here can get a bit cramp-ish, therefore I suggest coming here not during peak hours.

Friendly staff at this outlet. However, I think their food quite lacked the oompf. Wished the chicken breading had more taste, and the sambal to have more kick. It’s spicy yes, but flavours were somewhat lacking. Doesn’t give the authentic ayam gerpuk experience. Overall okay choice if you’re craving.

I was attracted by the high reviews to try the food here but wasn’t sure was it too fried, too much that I left feeling quite unwell after eating. I probably would come again if craving for deep-fried food. Portions were big and 1 meal could feed 2. Staff are very friendly and there are tables available. I do enjoy the spicy chilis though level 10 is quite mild for someone who loves spicy.

Had the ayam geprek cili ijo and grilled ayam geprek. Both pretty good. Chicken nicely cooked and best part is they are boneless. Had the green chilli sambal and sambal matah. Both nicely done too. Portions and service were good.
