Greeted the middle age lady wearing specs with a smile (cause I’m quite excited to satisfy my cravings) and asked if they’re still selling waffles. Lady didn’t even bother answering and just said what flavour with an attitude. Thought maybe it was just that moment i interrupted her or maybe she was busy. Went to buy a drink and came back to collect and wanted to double check if thats my waffles (again i greeted her with her smile) she did not answer and gave an attitude again. Hope her week gets better !

This morning, I visited the Swee Heng Poiz outlet. I bought a loaf of white bread priced at $2.90 and made payment using PayWave. While the transaction showed as successful on my mobile phone, it did not reflect on the POS system, and I was called back by the staff. I suggested that the cashier (a Chinese lady) take a screenshot of the successful transaction on my phone, which included the date and timestamp. At that point, another staff member (an Indian lady) commented, “Then we need to pay for her bread?” This remark was uncalled for. I then asked for an office number or someone I could contact to escalate the issue, as the staff were unable to make a decision on the spot. The same staff member implied that she needed to be careful because there are many scammers. I found this comment offensive. Eventually, I was given the outlet manager’s mobile number, but no one picked up despite multiple attempts. I then called the HQ operator, who took about three minutes to verify the outlet I was at (I am unsure why this was necessary) before addressing my query. However, she was unable to understand the situation clearly or provide a solution. With growing frustration and being pressed for time, I left without the bread that I had already paid for. I hope this issue can be looked into, particularly in terms of providing the necessary training for both retail and HQ staff to better handle such disputes professionally and efficiently.

Yesterday, I purchased three slices of cake from this shop, and my friend purchased one as well. After making payment, we noticed that no spoons were provided. I stood at the counter to ask for them, and the staff auntie only gave us two spoons. I politely explained that I had purchased three cakes, but she looked at me and said “no.” After I repeated that I bought three slices of cake, she then gave us the correct number of spoons. Initially, I thought it was simply an oversight, but it felt more like the spoons were intentionally not provided unless requested. This made the overall experience quite unpleasant. I hope the shop can improve its service attitude and customer experience in the future.

They have one of the best waffles in the neighbourhood, but do take note that this outlet is obviously understaffed, where during peak hours (after work), there will only be 1 staff member handling waffle-making and cashiering at the same time. Kudos to the Aunties working here; despite the vast number of waffle orders, they still make wonderful waffles for us. Hope the management can do something about this by either increasing the staffing or, at the very least, moving the waffle counter away so that there is enough space for the cashier while the other person can make the waffle elsewhere.

I bought 2 packed loaf of multigrain bread and politely asked for a slightly bigger plastic bag so that I can tie it up to hang in my car while driving. But the auntie cashier rejected saying I did not spend enough and she can squeeze into the smaller plastic bag (the one as shown). I was left with 2 options 1./ to just buy one loaf instead if I need to tie up 2./ split payment so she can give me the smaller bag for each loaf. Dun understand the logic that they rather reduced the sales (option 1) or incur extra plastic waste (option 2). I bought the same bread every week from Swee Heng (at other branches) and have never encountered such. The staff from other branches are always so friendly to even strike a conversation. In the end I only bought one and will not return to this branch as much as I can in future.
