mushroom soup

Legit damn good $4 for a sizeable portion that tastes REALLY good. Gravy is thick but not overwhelming, ikan bilis is the right level of salty and crispy. Queue moves fairly fast, the team works like a well-oiled machine.

There is a lot going on in the kitchen. Ingredients were all freshly prepared, which is a good sign. Mee rebus was nutty, spicy, tangy and very punchy. Bergedil had a mixture of mash and chunks of potato, served with ikan bilis and sambal which i like. Prices are definitely affordable, taste superb.

Very few Mee Soto in Singapore or Malaysia will remind you of the kind of warm embrace that home will give, but this place serves one that will. The broth is rich, flavourful, and will remind you of the good ol’ times when things were simpler and less hectic. Plenty of chicken added. The chilli, although not as spicy, is still tasty. The ikan bilis is a nice touch and will give you the crunch that any self-respecting Malay will tell you is quintessential in most food (it’s why we eat rice with keropok). And always have it with begedil. It would be criminal not to. There’s a reason why they’d name their shop after one of their dishes because the Lontong is damn near perfect. The broth is highly rich in santan and the spices are so balanced, giving it a highly aromatic and flavourful experience. This lands exactly under the “just like how mum used to make” tier. Have either of these in the morning. Look at some trees, and imagine our tropical Singapore like it was in the kampung days. Highly recommend you go, even if the queue gets long.

Queenstown Lontong is one of my go-to spots whenever I’m craving comforting local food. Every time I’m here, I end up ordering my two favourites, the Mee Soto and the Lontong, usually to share with someone because I simply can’t decide between the two! The Mee Soto is flavourful and comforting, while the Lontong gravy is rich and satisfying and packed with all the right ingredients to cover carb, protein and fibre! In fact, all the dishes I’ve tried here have been consistently good. What really ties everything together is their chilli, two different chilli sauces for different dishes, it’s absolutely sedap! Spicy and full of flavour, it elevates every dish. The food is hearty, authentic and reasonably priced, making it a place I keep coming back to. Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious breakfast food.

I visited for the lontong and encountered a 15-minute waiting period. They accept payment via cash or PayNow. The lontong was delicious and perfectly prepared; the gravy was thick, rich, and incredibly fragrant, topped with crispy fried anchovies. The nasi lemak rice was aromatic, and the chili was excellent.
