If you want interactive hot-plate dining, Express Teppan-Yaki delivers thick, heavy teppanyaki flavors in a fast-casual, open-counter setup. Sirloin Steak & Chicken Sets: The sirloin steak cubes and chicken drumstick pieces are cooked live on the flat top and smothered in a heavy garlic-and-chili teppanyaki sauce. The meats pair well with the rice, provided you enjoy strong, bold seasonings. Seafood & Sides: Both sets come with pan-seared fish and a scallop, cooked until lightly browned with a tender center. The squid is coated in the same signature house sauce, offering a chewier texture. Vegetables: Placed directly onto aluminum foil on the heated strip, the bean sprouts and stir-fried cabbage maintain a fresh crunch to help cut through the heavy sauce. Overall Verdict It offers a quick, piping-hot fix if you are looking for a satisfying teppanyaki meal in the basement of Tampines Mall.

The good: Not much of a meat eater, and this is one of the few places I look forward to tucking into some meat. I really enjoy the sliced lamb set. The lamb was adequately soft, and the spicy garlic sauce has an addictive quality. Veggies are mostly an afterthought for most set meals, so I was pleasantly surprised that the beansprouts and cabbage were nicely seasoned and generously portioned. You can ask for more sauce too. I wish they used better quality rice. The rice here is the cheap and clumpy kind, not the fluffy shortgrain you would expect from a teppanyaki place. The bad: I have some qualms about the hygiene practices here. I'm not a fan of the foil placed on a communal serving strip. When cleaning up, there is a possibility of another customer's leftovers getting into your food since everything is on a flat surface. I also wish the chefs were more diligent with cross-contamination. My father cannot take spicy food due to a nerve problem, and we found chilli in his food as the chef did not rinse off the spatula before cooking his dish. When we flagged this to the chef, he tried to pick out the chilli bits with the spatula. We were rather baffled because the chilli had already been infused into the food anyway.

The food was tasty and freshly cooked on the teppanyaki grill. The chefs prepared the dishes right in front of us, but the portions were a little small for the price. Overall, it was an okay dining experience.

Finally tried Teppan-Yaki Express at Tampines Central 5 after seeing the queue so many times .. Food was honestly quite solid, but the service experience was… very interesting lol { Food } ☐ Teppan YAY ☑ Above average ☐ Good ☐ Okay ☐ Sad hotplate { Beef } ☐ HOLYYYY Beef ☑ Tender and tasty ☐ Good ☐ Average ☐ Cow regret { Veg } ☐ Cabbage CARNAGE ☑ Nicely cooked ☐ Good ☐ Okay ☐ Veg depression { Soup } ☐ LIFE CHANGING ☑ Simple and nice ☐ Good ☐ Average ☐ Water cosplay { Service } ☐ Warm and friendly ☐ Okay ☐ Confusing ☑ Quite bad ☐ Service? CAN EAT ONE?? The food itself was pretty good!! Sliced beef with chilli and garlic had nice flavour, bean sprouts were decent, and I liked that soup was refillable They even topped up extra bean sprouts, which was a nice gesture But service was really strange Pay first, sit down, then nobody explains anything while everyone just waits for the place to fill up Food: 4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Service: 2/5 😭 Come for hot piping food, just prepare for cold service

Situated in the basement of Tampines Mall, Express Teppanyaki had been here for ages. Their signature black pepper sauce is a total nostalgia for me. Had the beef set with my son, it’s 15.00 SGD per set. Don’t be shy to ask for more black pepper sauce if you want. The set comes with bean sprouts, green vegetables, white rice and a bowl of plain soup. Although the staff seem very “fierce” but they are actually quite nice people. Come try it for yourself, it’s worth it.
