Finally dared to try this Penyet place as 1)it's usually quite empty, and 2)we haven't really felt up to eating a boatload of fried stuff in one sitting. Turns out, it's surprisingly good! The Tahu Telor is a must-try for all! It's so difficult to get this dish nowadays at your neighbourhood hawker as it's quite labour intensive to make. Soft tofu cubes are deliciously coated in a big mound of egg, the tastiest parts being the flossy burnt ends. Add in a generous heaping of beansprouts, julienned cucumbers and carrots in tangy kicap Manis sauce. The peanut gravy was served separately, so that you can control the amount of sauce/ sweetness you want in your dish. We usually cannot finish a Tauhu Telor but as this didn't feel as oily and heavy, finishing it was a breeze. There wasn't a lot of oil leftover on the plate either. The Sour Vegetable Soup is good as an appetizer or palate cleanser between heavy dishes. Cabbages, long beans, turnips and peanuts were simmered in a sweet-sour broth with flavours of tamarind, galangal, turmeric and shallots. It was refreshing but I found the peanuts undercooked and rather crunchy. Not sure whether I love or hate nuts done as such. The Fried Pomfret was quite basic, it was lightly battered in some turmeric cornstarch and served with Spice Level 5 Fiery Chili. This dark coloured Chili gives quite a good punch unblocking my blocked nose but it was not strong enough to mask the fishiness of the fish. I felt that the pomfret was not super fresh as I could taste some staleness near its belly portion. Lastly, we had the Mozzarella Smashed Chicken cutlet. The chicken meat was really tender and not dry at all, the bits of flour coating hanging on it was flavourfully soaked with mozzarella cheese, which was thrown atop the chicken and lightly torched before serving. We chose a Level 1 Sweet Chili to be served with it. This Chili is great for beginning spice eaters as it's super smooth and sweet with an oniony taste. The smashed fried duck really came off easily when poked with a fork, we tried the Level 3 Shrimp Paste chili with it and the pairing turned out heavenly. I found the Level 3 chili a little sweeter than expected but it was well received by the others. The Honey Marinated Beef Ribs were also thoroughly pre-simmered to achieve tenderness, although meat grain was slightly stringy and tough, the sweet kicap manis marinade made the dish whets up a good appetite and made it easier to swallow. The Level 2 Green Chili was one of the least sweet chili, with aromatic notes of coriander and green pepper. The Teh Tarik Kosong Ice is really rich and good. It was full bodied with vanilla notes with a rich, milky mouthfeel. It's a nice place to overindulge and grab a deep fried dinner. Cleanliness of the place could be improved. There were strands of hair and bits of batter on the benches we chose. Will revisit to try more dishes! Total damage: $37-42 for 3 pax

Stay nearby this place. I crave for their chicken because you don't get many turmeric based fried chicken. If you miss the "kampung" flavor, this is the place. Their chicken marinade is good and always crispy outside super soft inside. Try their fried chicken and the tofu. I always order extra here. The lady boss and family are nice and friendly. Most importantly the place is clean and you can see how they cook .

Ordered roast chicken and fried chicken. Both were very good. Tried spicy level 6 and 4. 6 - has a lingering spicy effect after 4 - spicy but can be more Think level 5 would be just right if you like spicy.

There's a good spread of Indonesian dishes. The food was good. The asam rebus soup tasted good but could be better if they also use belinjau nuts and leaves (but I know it's not easy to find in Singapore). The tahu telor was also good but could be improved by having more tahu to attain a good balance between the tahu & telor. The grilled chicken was okay although the meat was a little dry; could be a bit more juicy and moist and tasted better if fresh chicken was used instead of frozen chicken. The fish (tilapia and pomfret) dishes were my favourite. The fish meat was juicy and tender whilst the exterior was crispy and well prepared. I will visit again and will want to try their equivalent of beef bakso and other dishes also. Well done guys!

A little too pricey. $10.30 for 1 ayam penyet (takeaway). Rice was also charged. Taste of the food was not great. I will stick to the good old ayam penyet ria or president in the future.

Yummy Indonesian food. Surprisingly good. The chilli has up to 7 levels to be selected. We ordered Ayam Bakar Taliwang Kampung (S$14.50), Iga Bakar (beef) (S$14.50), and Tahu Telor (S$8.50). We opted for level 3 chilli which was spicy and good enough for our liking. Will definitely return for other food. Update as of 28 Oct 2022: Tried the fried chicken, gado gado and my favourite tahu telor. The chicken was nice. As for the gado gado, it was just ok as it had the same gravy/sauce as tahu telor.

Food was really lacking in flavour. Chicken was bland other than spicy. Soup buntut was very oily(service was really bad they served it in a metal hot burning stove on a serving tray for self service, and how is the customer supposed to carry the metal soup container to transfer from tray to table with bare hands). Tahu telor was slightly burnt. Wasn't more than 2 tables then, but service was supremely slow. Waited quite long about 20mins for food to be self collected when they only had two tables in the cafe. Fresh lime juice tasted almost like water... won't go back again. Certainly there are better ones around for the price paid.

Tahu Telor ($9.90) was well done and will recommend. Very tasty, big portion and came hot and crispy. Ayam penyet ($9.50 for chicken + 1.20 rice) and ayam bebek ($11.90 for duck + 1.20 rice) were overpriced and have tasted better. Able to choose type of chilli and level 3 was already very spicy.

The ayam penyet at this restaurant is commendable. It boasts crispy skin and tender meat, which is a delightful combination. Unfortunately, the beef penyet falls short. The meat is too dry and tough, which detracts from the dining experience. The area that needs improvement is the service. Despite the restaurant being half empty, guests are not allowed to choose their tables. This lack of flexibility can be frustrating for diners. In summary, the ayam penyet shines, but the beef penyet and service could use some adjustments.
