Very nice halal restaurant. We tried its half duck, mutton curry, and chicken noodle. Everything was great and the portion was super generous. In particular, the duck tasted really umami. The staff were also really responsive and provided good service.

Super friendly staffs. Roast duck was really good, if not better than the other non Halal premises. Ginger paste for the chicken is a tad bit salty. The shop is 100% Halal. It is inside a food court, first floor of a market, but air conditioned, quite comfortable. Accepts Alipay for 2 HKD charge.

Every business trip to Hong Kong seems to come with an inevitable visit to Wai Kee. At this point, I suspect my trips are planned around their curry rather than meetings. Located inside a government food court, this place may not look flashy, but the lunchtime crowds tell you everything you need to know. By noon it becomes absolute organised chaos, so arriving before 12 is less a suggestion and more a survival strategy. The curry here is still my favourite in Hong Kong: rich, comforting, and dangerously easy to crave once you’ve had it. I keep hearing the roast duck is excellent too, but sadly my stomach continues to operate with the storage capacity of a studio flat. Every visit ends the same way: “Right, next time I’ll try the duck.” One day, perhaps.

The lamb curry was spicy and full of flavour. The roast duck was tender and well seasoned. The winter melon soup was also nice. The pomelo peel with prawn roe was an interesting dish but I felt like I was eating leftover ingredients used to make soup. Overall, the signature lamb curry and roast duck were really good. Seating was not comfortable as expected, being in the hot food area of the markets, having to share the table with strangers. But service was very efficient.

Wai Kee Halal Restaurant is literally inside the wet market building in Wan Chai. While air conditioned, it's noisy, cramped, and very local. If you go during weekday lunch, good luck. The office crowd floods the place and it’s chaos. You’re squeezing between tables, people hovering, staff moving fast. It’s not a chill meal. But the mutton curry is why you’re here. And it’s seriously good. The halal mutton curry with rice is rich, properly spiced, and deeply satisfying. The mutton was tender, generous, and not stingy at all. The curry sauce is the kind you just want to drown your rice in. It’s bold without being messy in flavour. This is comfort food done right. Presentation? Rough. Very rough. It looks like someone just scooped and served. But honestly, who cares. You’re not here for plating. Pricing is very affordable, especially for Hong Kong. You leave full and happy without feeling like you’ve been robbed. Service is very Hong Kong. Fast, blunt, no smiles. Not warm, not friendly, just efficient. If you expect hospitality, you’ll be disappointed. If you just want your food quickly, you’ll be fine. Overall, Wai Kee is not pretty, not comfortable, and not charming. But that mutton curry is legit. Come for that. Ignore everything else.
