Had prata breakfast with my family here on a weekday morning. The prata was slightly on the thicker side, though it was crunchy and crispy. Curry was medium hot and spicy. What I like was the service timing, food was delivered hot with just 2min waiting time. I guess because there's not much crowd in the morning. Most chairs have marks of bird's presence on them. You need your table number to make your order inside the shop, and payment is made after you're done with the meal.

First, most Singaporean known this eatery was very popular and famous since few decades ago if I'm not wrong. Seen the Indian owner and his Chinese wife partner, they employ many foreigners Chinese workers and rarely a caucasian seated at the cashier counter. Visit again after 2 covid years, quite disappointing indeed after tasting their some popular dishes. First, their briyani rice was still very good, fluffy and fragrance, full of spices favor, taste really good. Mutton or chicken was acceptable. Only complaint is charging $3.50 for briyani rice only is damn expensive. Secondly, their Prata, very cold especially the eggs Prata surpose to be order to prepare, but their pre-cooked and seat their Prata for order. That's the worst way to eat such Prata. Suspect those Prata are left over since morning crowds. I'm visiting them around 4pm. Lastly, I'm ordering their popular curry fish head, the curry soup base was good, fish head was quite a good size, is whole fish head not those greedy restaurant owners serve it by half only and sell it as whole. Unfortunately the ingredients was quite little, tomoto, ladies fingers, brinjal and onions only, all in small sizes. Most importantly, the fish head was not at their freshest stage. Charging $27.50 per serving. 8 months ago they only charged $25.50. Inflation is crazy. Overall experience was just okay not superior, will only Nasi Briyani Mutton or Chicken next time. *Additional take away order: Fried Bee-Hoon with anchovy. Great flavors and tasty. $6 with a fried egg. Expensive but delicious.

Came on Thursday night. Them ambience and environment was good..got aircond room.. however the table wasn't clean.. Ordered Banana Pratata 3/5 - very normal.. not that fragrance, (rely on what oil chef is using and the flour) Mutton soup 4/5 - generous amount of Mutton but the soup is more like powder soup..price is reasonable.. Roti John beef 2/5 - I think this is the worst Roti John I ever had in my entire life (for a sarawakian like me)..the given sauce was on top of the bun and not delicious or good match .. I prefer the sauce sandwiches inside with the beef and egg.. and add a hit pepper grill sauce.. Briyani Mutton 5/5 - very good yummy brkyani Mutton. The Mutton is tender.. the briyani not too overpowering powder taste. Nearby open space parking at $60cents half an hour.. no free parking during PH/Sunday.. Wi come back to try their maggie goreng.

My favorite go to place for prata and fish head curry. I will normally add a couple of papadams to my order for munching later on. Fish head is $25.50 and good enough for 3 persons if having with prata, and 4 peons of ordering with other dishes. Their menu is quite extensive so there is something for everyone.

This place sure has a long history, just by looking at the number of reviews. And it is undoubtedly a place to head to for prata breakfast. The prata has both crisp at the side and fluffiness at the centre. I especially like the curry with lots of black seeds which give a variety of flavour when biting into it with the fish curry. A cup of black coffee and egg prata is the perfect combination to start the day.

Thohirah Restaurant is a great place to have a tasty and economical meal. I loved the fish head curry, paratha, and biriyani that I ordered. They were all well-spiced and flavorful. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality and quantity of the food. The only downside was the customer service, which was not very attentive or friendly. However, I did not mind it too much, as the food was so good. I would definitely visit this restaurant again and suggest it to anyone who likes fish heady curry and prata type food.

Order taker no customer service, Cashier attitude even worst. Dine at your own risk. Becareful and always check the price. I felt that this restaurant seem take for advantage of their famous Indian Muslim cuisine in Jalan Kayu, Singapore. Please the price of their menu vs what you pay. I experienced different price from the menu and what they charged me. Teh O ice menu show $S2.20 with Lemon but they charge $S2.50 by right without lemon even cheaper, Chicken Masala menu show $S5.80 but they charge $S6.00. Informed the cashier about the price discrepancies but he just replied system show $S5.80 and $S6.00. Im fine to pay for the price but please be honest and update the menu if you have increased the price. Do not just in- directly charge the customer extra and still show attitude.

Pretty disappointed with the food here. No longer serving yummy food. Many places serve better Prata than here, plus the food is not hot! You can give the Nasi Lemak a miss too! Served Cold and rice has no coconut taste and fragrance.

This place represents Jalan Kayu to me. This place has stood the test of time since the 80s. Always nostalgic and memorable to dine here. Even a simple breakfast of prata and teh tarek bring back so much memories for the old Jalan Kayu.

Sad state of prata. Absolutely cold and chewy. The prata (egg and kosong) were precooked. The curry was decent though. Lots of young kids, area big enough for groups to chill It's pretty unforgettable, along with the pricing , this is one place I will try to avoid. Sad

Great mutton briyani! Meat is tender, non gamey at all! Paired with it's flavourful briyani and thick curry, each mouthful is a match in heaven! Portion is huge@$9.50, would come back to try other dishes. Food coma kicking in while writing this review😅

Good place to have Indian Muslim food in Singapore. Order at the counter first, you need to tell your table number. There’s car park just next to the shop.

Plain prata is recooked it is hard as rock. First time having tissue prata without any sugar coating inside. Asked the staff abt it, he pass me a bottle of sugar. The standard has dropped tremendously. During payment the staff/ owner just talking on the phone without interaction with the customer/ telling how much and all.

Assamulaikum Was really disappointed with the order of Nasi goreng tomyam As I order the food it’s doesn’t even have any taste or resemble of Tom yam flavour all it have was the colour yellow and a mere slice of lime trying to cover up for the taste of Tom yam Infact it’s more of nasi kunyit

I've been here a few times and I didn't want to comment until recently. The food is ok for a hole in the wall shop and a LOT more expensive since Covid. The toilet looks worse than a third world country. I used to grow up in this area and compared to the other shops on the same street, this is supposed to be more famous but I really think they can invest more to make it Singapore standard.

The chicken biryani is a 10/10. The rice is so flavorful, perhaps the best biryani rice in the entire Singapore. The mutton was soft. Thia was my first time trying satay, as an Indian accustomed to kabab, satay is on the sweeter/tangy side. It is not spicy. Teh tarik is less sweeter than usual and is a perfect addition to the biryani. Must try.

What a disappointment with this old famous traditional prata shop. The prata no longer crispy. Teh tarik was not hot. The tables were dirty. And worst still, the trash bin was put in front of the store with no covers and smelly. Not that it was crowded but workers seem complacent. the boss need to look into this to preserve this traditional brand.

2 Kosong Prata + 1 Egg Prata Thohirah Restaurant 📍 258 Jln Kayu, Singapore 799487 🍜 Food wise: Not as good as it once was I guess, the colour of the prata did flat, not much signs of crispy prata for sure. Texture was quite tough and dense feel, not the fluffy type. Taste was not too bad, carried mainly by the fish curry, mildly spicy and fragrant. ✨ Ambience wise: Good place to hang out, spacious and breezy. 🤵🏻 Service wise: Staff did their job. 💵 Price wise: Affordable. Summary: Can try.

Been here for decades mostly for dinner and supper. Here today with factory colleagues. Authentic Muslim Indian food. Only took a few photos as we were hungry. Satay chicken abit burnt but it’s ok can remove the burnt part. Thosai are good. Prata are good, not so oily. Big portion. Floor staffs are friendly and hardworking. Spacious airy environment with lots of fans.

In my point of view this restaurant prata are over price and overrated. . For a piece of egg, prata cost $2.70, and a piece of plain prata costs $1.70. I feel if you charge at this pricing, at least you should have good service just too bad. I don't feel any service at all. The plain prate was dry and hard. You can see the spoon bend, but the prata can't be tear. Lookin' it for improvement

My tea came with a grasshopper/cricket fround inside the drink. When I asked the staff why, they ignored me and just quickly change my cup of tea and replace a new one. Although I haven't drunk the contaminated tea, the sight of the grasshopper insider the tea is unacceptable. Will never come to this place again ever. Eat at your own risk.

Food is alright, but service is quite bad. Everyone is rude and rushes you to order by shouting “faster faster” at you…I know it’s not a fancy restaurant but some level of respect is still needed 😂
