Celebrating Singapore’s National Day season always brings exciting local culinary mashups, and the new limited-edition Chili Crab Sauce Crab Stick & Beef Gyudon is a festive standout. Priced reasonably at S$9.40, this creative dish offers a bold, delicious fusion that successfully bridges classic Japanese comfort food with an iconic local Singaporean flavor profile. At the foundation of the bowl is a generous bed of warm, fluffy white rice, topped with a comforting portion of thinly sliced, tender beef gyudon. The savory, slightly sweet soy-braised beef pairs surprisingly well with the star of the show: a vibrant, sweet-and-spicy chili crab sauce poured generously over the top. The sauce delivers that familiar, comforting kick with rich egg ribbons and a perfect balance of tangy tomato and mild chili spice. Topped with delicate crab sticks, every bite offers a satisfying contrast of textures and a delightful burst of local nostalgia. This National Day special is so impressive on how well the distinct flavors harmonize without overpowering one another. The richness of the beef absorbs the zesty sauce, turning a quick meal into an indulgent feast that pays homage to Singapore’s vibrant food heritage. For a limited time during the National Day celebrations, this chili crab beef gyudon delivers fantastic value at S$9.40. It is a highly recommended local fusion treat that leaves you feeling thoroughly satisfied, happy, and festive.

The original gyudon was the clear standout for me at Sukiya Gyudon • Curry. I’d be a little careful with some of the other beef options, since they can come across as quite salty unless you keep the portion smaller. The pickles were not for me at all, so I’d probably skip those next time. Overall, though, it’s still a solid place if you want the main bowl.

First visit to the Suntec branch, waited quite awhile to get a table but it was a busy weekend evening with long queues at every restaurant. We got a good seating when our turn arrives, the staff are friendly and hardworking. We ordered something with beef and chicken to try it out. Portions are good!

Tried a few items here and had mixed feelings overall. The gyu don was definitely the highlight it was flavourful, well-seasoned, and satisfying. The beef was tender and the overall balance of the dish worked really well. However, the matcha drink was quite underwhelming. It tasted flat and lacked depth, with a somewhat artificial note. It didn’t have that rich, earthy matcha flavour you’d expect, and overall felt pretty average compared to the food. Decent for the gyu don, but I’d probably skip the matcha next time.

A nice place for a quick fix for decent meats and rice. They prepare pretty quickly and food arrives shortly after submitting the order. In terms of quality, it is decent. As for price, it is slightly on the high side.
