Second time trying this place. I like that they let you buy 3 pieces to try flavours instead of needing to buy a whole piece. It is THICK. Generous filling and yummy taste. I will spend my day’s worth of calories here lol. A really good dessert 😋 will definitely be back to try the savoury items. Packaging very cute and appreciate that they provide gloves to eat with! Friendly staff is a bonus

Was initially deterred to try their Indonesian-style pancakes due to the price ($5.95 for 3 small pieces), but glad I had it. The pancakes, which taste like mee chiang kueh, were served warm. The recommended item Choco Cheese was a delightful combination of sweet and savoury, and had complexity in its flavour.

We ordered almost every dish for delivery; here is a lowdown on what is worth trying and what can be missed. Stick to their martabak manis; the original choco-cheese was gooey and filled with crunchy peanuts! A favourite for all. The ondeh-ondeh filling was however dismal and lacked the gooey filling of the chocolate to hold it together. Everything pretty much fell apart when it was delivered. The savoury martabak are surprisingly good, thick with filling and the kuah martabak telur sauce complimented it well. That is essentially all you should order. Everything else was absolutely disappointing. The Bakso was so salty, I couldn’t eat the meatballs without slathering in sweet sauce or spicy chilly to counter the saltiness. The soup was also too salty. The Indomie Ayam Geprek was essentially fried fatty chicken skin with hardly any actual chicken meat. There was nothing else the instant noodles came with which is a rip off for $11.90. The Indomie Bakso Penyet came with 5 miserable meatballs, no fried egg or garlic crackers as advertised; unsure how they could justify $10.50 for a packet of instant noodles and some small dry meatballs. (unfortunately the dish was eaten before I could get a photo!) The Beef Rendang although taste wise was ok the meat was chewy, tough and dry with hardly any rendang gravy. We requested to separate the chilli as there were children in our group but that request was sadly ignored. All the meals came covered in spicy chilli, which had a kick but meant the children couldn’t have any of the main dishes which is a shame. Strongly suggest Smile Martabak to stick to what you know best and forget about trying other Indonesian alternatives which you are unable to deliver or get right! A hit and miss of a meal, somewhat disappointing. Prices are somewhat higher than most, especially for instant noodles !

Shiok lah! My martabak manis was freshly made on the spot. But over indulgent; with generous loads of shredded cheese, chocolate rice, condensed milk and butter!!! Every ingredient adds inches to your waist (and elsewhere)! But true to the way it is done in Indonesia! Definitely not everyone’s cup of tea unless you have a super sweet tooth like me. Dough was soft and fluffy, with a honeycomb structure (like kueh Ambon). Prefer their “traditional” martabak over their “original”. Eat once in a long while OK lah. Maybe like after a marathon? Service staff thoughtfully offered glove (as it can be messy) in case I wanted to eat there and then. Nice move. Technically, I can finish a whole box in less than a day — but I know I shouldn’t…

Not deserving of their ratings as they are all from a promotion whereby you get a free drinks for doing a google review. This is prob the worst Martabak I had in my life. Ordered choco-cheese. Expected it to be freshly made only to see the staff taking out a box of pre-packed martabak from the fridge to top up the fillings and microwave it. When I got home, everything was over drenched in sauce and the taste was awful. Husband and I took a bite each and food was unfortunately wasted. Better off buying any other apom balik off Pasar malam or meejiankueh. Martabak from indo tastes way better.

Pretty interesting meal, worth a try. Rice/noodle box was more filling than expected to all of us. Sweet martabak was mildly sweet and the cheese was perfectly fitting in.

Smile Martabak brings Indonesian Street Food to Singapore. We dropped by their branch at Ion Orchard and had a chance to try out their huge menu - here’s what we think! We particularly enjoyed their 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗸 ($𝟰.𝟵𝟱) and 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗸 ($𝟰.𝟵𝟱). The combination of egg, onion and meat was really delicious, and this is truly their signature dish for a reason. We also couldn’t resist ordering their 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗲 ($𝟯.𝟱𝟬) and got many deep fried skewers as well. We were impressed by their 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗘𝗻𝗼𝗸𝗶 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗺 ($𝟮.𝟱𝟬) and 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗴𝗴𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 ($𝟮.𝟮𝟬) because their veggie sweetness was delicious. Their 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗴 ($𝟮.𝟵𝟬) was also very memorable. The glaze on the chicken was not too sweet and the meat was juicy. Their 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗹 𝗕𝗲𝗲𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗺𝗯 ($𝟯.𝟭𝟬) was a new menu item that we had to get. The cheese was oozing as we broke it in half - this was perfect for cheese and meat lover. Of course, we couldn’t leave without trying their sweet dessert martabak. The 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗰𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗲𝘀𝗲 ($𝟱.𝟵𝟱) was a mixture of salty and sweet, with additional texture from the cheese being in shredded form. The 𝗥𝗲𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘁 𝗢𝗿𝗲𝗼 ($𝟱.𝟵𝟱) was a vibrant red and the cream cheese was not overly sweet. However, the idea of sweet martabak took some getting used to, and perhaps those with a sweet tooth would like this better. Follow us on IG @toofoodtomiss for more foodie content!

Was expecting a lot more. The nasi goreng was too sweet, and looks like it was cooked in advance and was just kept somewhere in the shop, didn’t see anyone frying upon order. The bakso were not those that you can find in Indonesia, way too soft, tasted like those locally made in Singapore. Martabak telor tasted average, the skin could have been more crispy. Had a chance to try their martabak manis in Funan, tasted average too. Definitely an option if you are craving for martabak as it is very accesible, but was hoping for a lot better.
