Mee Goreng (SGD $6) @ Hass Bawa. . Established since 1978 by Abdul Latiff Mohammed Kassim, this legendary stall serves what many consider to be the best rendition of its kind. . Slightly greasy, full on smoky aroma, this features yellow noodles tossed with cabbage, bean sprouts, green chili, diced potato, mutton cubes, chicken egg, and a side of cucumber glazed with tomato ketchup. . Has combined chewy tender soft crisp textures, with bold smoky meaty vegetal grainy salty savoury sweet spice flavour. The heat lingers on the palate, and the dish is balanced enough to make you crave more. . . . Nasi Goreng (SGD $6) @ Hass Bawa. . Each plate is wok-fried to order, quickly assembled by tossing together pre-cooked and rested white rice, diced cabbage, potatoes, tomatoes, chicken egg, chye sim / Chinese flowering cabbage, fried ikan bilis / anchovies, and shallots. Has bold smoky grainy fishy salty vegetal sweet starchy eggy savoury flavour. . Accompanied by juicy cucumber slices with vegetal sweet flavour, thick tomato ketchup with vegetal sour sweet flavour, and topped with a soft fried chicken egg with eggy sweet savoury flavour.

Really meh? Everything you read here is true—70% of it. I tried the kway teow-mee goreng and the mixed kambing soup. 7/10.

The kway teow goreng was quite a big portion and for $5, it definitely is worth every dollar. Dish looked wholesome and the redness was salivating. The portion of mutton was more than what I expected. Quite a bit of ingredients as well instead of just noodles and morsels of vegetables.

Ordered the mutton soup which was full of flavour. Big serving. I don't usually eat lamb/mutton because of the smell but the spices balanced it out well. Will visit again!
