Tried Reuben and NY Bodega. NY Bodega patty was really nice, love the addition of jalepeno in its patty which gives it more depth. Reuben wasn’t as nice as the pastrami was a bit chewy at parts, and there either wasn’t enough kimchi & caramelised onions or the taste wasn’t strong enough so the sandwich did not leave an impression. Osmanthus matcha was very good and the matcha taste was pretty rich. The only downside is you can’t adjust the sweetness level but that was ok. Jalapeño poppers with cheese were good but just a little spicy. Overall, this was a satisfying and very filling meal.

Tried the NY’s Bodega Chopped Cheese, Reuben, and the Kids Platter. The Bodega sandwich was the star of the meal – really tasty and packed with flavour. Definitely something I’d order again. The kids also enjoyed their platter, especially the sausage, scrambled eggs, and marshmallow chocolate drink. The Reuben was so so. The flavour was great, but the pastrami came in very hard and long slices that kept getting pulled out with every bite, making the sandwich fall apart. Chopping the meat into smaller pieces would make it much easier to eat. The place itself is small but cosy, with nice decor, free water, and friendly staff. Overall, a nice spot for brunch and sandwiches. I’d happily come back for the Bodega!

I dropped by Deli by The Meatery while I was in a residential area in Clementi. It’s a quaint and quiet spot - I visited on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty chill, great for a solo coffee or meal. Also nice that it’s halal, so it’s accessible to more people, though the location is out of the way if you don’t drive. I tried the NY’s Bodega Chopped Cheese ($16.50). The filling was flavourful with ground beef, sweet peppers, jalapeños, and cheese, with a slight kick of spice. The bread was a bit underwhelming though, I would’ve preferred something like ciabatta or sourdough for better texture contrast. The standout for me are the chips which were really crisp, well-seasoned, and addictive. 📸 For more food reviews, check out @hangry.potatoo on instagram

Ordered the Reubenesque Sandwich ($17.80) and Butcher’s Breakfast ($19.80). The sandwich had nice flavours, tangy kimchi and honey mustard with the sweetness from caramelised onions worked really well together. Unfortunately the beef pastrami was dry and tough, not as tender as I hoped. For the breakfast, the picanha steak came with chimichurri which reminded me a bit of Thai green chilli dipping sauce, tangy, slightly sweet and quite appetising. The flavour pairing was good, but the steak was cooked well done and ended up dry and chewy. Overall, the flavour ideas are good, just that the meat could be better executed. I’d still recommend the place if you’re around the area for their coffee and quiet ambience. Nice chill spot… maybe it was just Monday morning and the meat also had the Monday blues. 😄

First time here after googling on the map for a halal cafe. 😄 A relatively small cafe tucked inside Sunset way. Easy to find and managed to get a carpark lot near the cafe as it was on a weekday morning with less crowds. Nice ambience, friendly staff as well. Most imptly we enjoyed our delicious food! 😃 The price may be a little high but definitely worth the trip. Only thing was our clothes were infused with the smoky fragrance of grilled meat and buttered bread. 😅 However definitely will return again especially on weekday mornings. 👍🏼
