Al-makan took over from al-azhar. The food quality, range, and service remain the same as a previous owner. It is decent and nice still!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Al Makan and was treated to an array of delectable dishes. Here's a rundown of my experience: 1. **Kuay Teow Goreng Kerang (10/10):** The Kuay Teow Goreng Kerang was an absolute triumph. The flavors were rich, and the mussels were cooked to perfection. Each bite was a burst of umami goodness. This dish is definitely a must-try for seafood lovers. 2. **Chilli Beef Hotdog (6.5/10):** While the Chilli Beef Hotdog was enjoyable, it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The beef was tender, but the chili lacked a bit of depth. It's a decent option, but there are better choices on the menu. 3. **Plain Naan and Butter Chicken (8/10):** The combination of Plain Naan and Butter Chicken was a delight. The naan was fluffy and had the perfect texture, complementing the creamy and flavorful butter chicken. This classic pairing earned high marks for its execution. 4. **Murtabak (6.5/10):** The Murtabak left me with mixed feelings. While the flavor profile was intriguing, I couldn't help but notice an abundance of onions and a lack of beef. It's a dish that could be exceptional with a few tweaks to the ingredient balance. 5. **Nasi Goreng (7.5/10):** The Nasi Goreng offered a satisfying mix of flavors. It had a nice balance of spiciness and savory notes, making it a solid choice. However, there is room for improvement to elevate it to a higher rating. In summary, Al-Makan offers a culinary journey with some stellar highlights, particularly the Kuay Teow Goreng Kerang and the Plain Naan with Butter Chicken. While a couple of dishes fell slightly short of expectations, the excellent service and inviting atmosphere make this establishment a worthwhile visit.

Plain roti pratas are good. Iced blended Lychee Spin was the bomb! Shall try the other flavours the next time! 👍👍👍

Food was sub-par, portion was not fitting for the price point, service was just awful. Paid 5.60 for fried wanton noodles only for it to come with only a soup bowls worth of noodles that was also not seasoned well

I often come here for breakfast and dinner or supper. Food (esp the Asian dishes) and service has improved a lot from Al Azhar times every time I go here. I come here for the bubur kampung a lot as there aren’t many places in the east that serve this, and they do a pretty good one. The lontong here is flavourful, too! I believed it’s only served during breakfast only. Waiting times can be improved but I understand sometimes it can’t be helped during peak periods when the restaurant is packed to the max. At least that’s a good sign that lots of people are coming here.

Long time never come here and found out Al Makan has taken over. Place looks brighter, more inviting and much cleaner than before. Menu and taste still looks the same. First time ordered the nasi goreng special kampong and it was so tasty that I ordered again but the second time I had it, it wasn’t the same. Hope they can make it nice all the time.

Pity this place. Not sure how they gonna survive with unpalatable food. How can you go wrong with chicken rice. Bought half chicken but they don’t give half. They just assemble chicken parts to form “half”. Chicken is dry and “smell”. My wife even vomit after eating one piece. Jialat bro. Boss do you even know your own place standards?

They served us cold chicken for the chicken rice & we ordered 3 servings, not 1 and all the chicken are cold. When I ask the waiter/waitress there, they said “oh the chicken it’s already like that. It’s just hanging there.” Pointing at the chicken hanging and make no effort to heat it up or anything. Their response was rather unhappy and just want to walk away from it. Other than that, there’s still some blood from the chicken too. Not recommended 👎🏼
