Last week, I was introduced by my colleague, Lawrence, to this place along Dunlop Street. In recent years, many eateries have opened up around this area. Today, I decided to come again, making sure that I try one of their Daily Specials, Mutton Mandi, as I missed it the last time I was here. Mandi is a favoured rice dish with the meat (mutton) cooked separately. According to the boss, Mandi is less masala (lese spices) compared to Briyani. If you prefer less spices, then this Mandi meal is for you. The order came with a light pinkish tomato-chilli dip, mandi dipping oil and a side vermicelli pudding dessert. I also ordered the masala chai tea.
The mutton was tender and cooked just right, but need some coaxing to come off the bone. The meat goes well with the tomato-chiili dip in my opinion. The masala chai has a unique flavour due to its mix of spices. Overall experience is satisfying! No issue on coming back to try the rest of the Daily Specials menu.
