my fav indian food place! have been coming here the last 10 years (give or take) and no other place has come close to the food here. their naan, pepper mutton and briyani is to die for and considering the portion, the price is considered on the cheaper end! always always enjoy the food here and i will continue coming back!

🍛🌙 Sakunthala’s Restaurant – Syed Alwi Road, Singapore Stopped by Sakunthala’s for iftar and here’s the quick breakdown 👇 🍽️ What I Ordered Pepper Mutton Set Lemon Tea ✨ Taste Notes Pepper mutton was bold and flavourful — strong pepper kick, nicely spiced without overpowering the meat Mutton was tender and well-seasoned, not gamey. Compared to neighbouring restaurants along Syed Alwi, this one stood out in terms of flavour depth. Lemon tea was refreshing — good balance to cut through the richness of the pepper gravy Definitely satisfying for breaking fast — hearty but not overwhelming 🪑 Vibe & Ambience Interior gives off a classic American diner-style feel — booth seating, spacious layout, bright lighting. Comfortable for group dining, especially during Ramadan period Feels more structured and sit-down friendly compared to smaller eateries nearby 👍 What Stood Out Strong spice profile on the mutton Good portion size for a set meal Comfortable environment for iftar gathering 🤔 Could Be Better Can get busy during peak iftar timing Noise level increases with larger groups 📌 Verdict If you’re around Syed Alwi during Ramadan and want something satisfying, Sakunthala’s pepper mutton set is a strong pick Good flavour, comfortable setting, and worth choosing over some nearby options

I visited Sakunthala’s Restaurant – Syed Alwi Outlet and had an average experience. The place is known for its Indian and local favorites, and the menu definitely has a wide variety. I tried a few dishes, and while some were tasty, others felt just okay — nothing really stood out as exceptional. The service was decent, but it took a bit longer than I expected during busy hours. The ambience is casual and simple, which is fine for a quick meal but not great if you’re looking for something more comfortable or quiet. Overall, it’s an okay stop if you’re around and craving familiar flavors, but I wasn’t completely blown away by the food or experience — 3 stars ⭐⭐⭐. Maine Sakunthala’s Restaurant – Syed Alwi Outlet visit kiya aur overall experience thoda average raha. Menu mein Indian aur local favorite dishes ka wide variety milta hai, lekin maine jo kuch try kiya usmein kuch dishes tasty thi, kuch bas thik-thak hi laga — koi bhi dish mujhe standout nahi lagi. Service theek thi, lekin busy time mein order thoda late aaya, jo thoda irritating laga. Ambience casual aur simple hai, jo quick meal ke liye fine hai, lekin agar aap comfortable aur quiet jagah chahte ho toh shayad utna special nahi hai. Overall, agar aap area mein ho aur familiar flavours chaho toh theek jagah hai, lekin meri visit mein kuch khaas wow factor nahi mila — 3 stars ⭐⭐⭐.

We usually visit this eatery whenever we’re near Mustafa Centre. However, placing an order can be challenging, as the staff tend to move around quickly and often seem to overlook us. The egg prata and fried cauliflower are consistently good. Unfortunately, on this visit, the butter chicken was slightly charred and had a burnt aftertaste. The masala tea, however, was fragrant and enjoyable. In total, we spent $47, which felt rather overpriced. Thankfully, we were able to use CDC vouchers issued by the Singapore government to offset part of the bill.
