Recently, I went to Biryani 47, a biryani store featured on Sethlui and mothership. My family and I decided to try their Devil's Curry, Chicken and Mutton Biryani. One of the first things that struck me about the biryani was the prominent taste of spices in their dishes. The rempah paste was expertly prepared, as the flavours of the spices were very evident. In my personal opinion, some may mistake the robust taste of the spices to be salty. The combination of aromatic spices also created a tantalising aroma. I hate mushy, clumpy rice, so the rice was next up for the test. Thankfully, the basmati rice was well-cooked and fragrant, each grain separate and fluffy. The small details, such as the addition of crispy fried onions, added a delightful crunch and a hint of that smoky "oniony" aroma to each mouthful, elevating the dish. What impressed me was how well all the dish's components complemented one another. The tender chicken and succulent mutton were perfectly cooked, melded seamlessly with the fragrant rice and robust flavours of the spices. Each bite was a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. While I thoroughly enjoyed the dish's spiciness, the chilli might be too spicy for those with a milder palate. However, for spice lovers like myself, it was pretty shiok. Regarding pricing, Biryani 47 is slightly pricier than typical food court options. However, considering the rising costs of quality ingredients, it is understandable and acceptable. The flavours and attention to detail make it worth the slightly higher price point. Lastly, the old-school plates and banana leaves are worth mentioning, which gave me a nostalgic feeling of the good old days. Those added a touch of charm to the dining experience and served as a reminder of the rich culinary heritage the store embodies.

Saw many rave about their Briyani on different social media channels. Looked impressive, so i decided to give it a try. Together with my wife, we went down to their stall inside hougang mall's newly renovated food court. The food court is nicely renovated. Cosy and welcoming. First impression of Briyani 47, it is incredibly expensive. My wife had a chicken Briyani ($9.90) and i had a mutton Briyani ($11.90). To be honest, I feel that the portion is quite small for this price point. The chicken is ok but the mutton is very salty. It doesn't come with egg or the papadum cracker. It came with a piece of under cooked potato. The potato is hardly cooked through in the middle. Very disappointed with it.

This place is famous for chicken biryani. But I have tried nasi lemak there. And if I have to rate the presentation of nasi lemak is up to the mark 5 start for it. The taste is good but not best 4 star for the taste. Service is awesome took only 1 minute . I would love to try other food here as well

Chance upon this Biryani at the food court of Hougang Mall , surprisingly good. Ordered the devils chicken n mutton. Devils really spicy, chicken r tender gravy damn shiok. Mutton r cooked to perfection except not much gravy given. Overall food is a 4/5. Just that is a little expensive but still worth eating comparing with most common Indian stall charging $7 a portion, their standard is quite close to restaurant standard imo. Would definitely go back again.

Been wanting to try this for a while. Food is excellent. I got the mutton Briyani, the mutton was so soft and fell apart and melted in my mouth. Definitely recommend if you like mutton briyani. Prices are a tad bit higher but that’s to be expected since they are in a mall. Stall rental is also higher for them too. Happy to pay for delicious food 😊 Also got the Beef rendang Nasi Lemak. The sambal chilli was sweet and spicy 🌶️ but I loved it. Will be back for more when I can.

Ordered the $9.50 mutton biriyani for dinner..Nicely plated but the mutton piece was the smallest I hv ever eaten in my life. The piece I had, while flavourful was slightly tough to eat. The portion was also small so I wasn't full compared to my usual biriyani meals. The rice was al dented and not mushy. For its price, it was pricely. I didn't see a halal cert except a 100% Muslim owned so had to confirm with the staff if I should place the crockery in halal or non halal. He told me halal tray return.

Had always wanted to try Bangladeshi style briyani ever since they were at Saint George Road. I was in the Hougang area and decided to try. Bought the mutton briyani to go and share it with the family. All were raving about the briyani. Flavourful and fragrant rice as evident with the spices used. Mutton was almost tender but did not have the gamey mutton taste thankfully. The elder of the house enjoyed the briyani that he asked to get it again soon.

Updated review: I finally got around to visit Hougang Mall again in order to try other dishes in the area. As promised, I went to the same stall again and this time ordered the mutton briyani. Unbelievably tasty and packed with so much spices and flavor. In between every bite, there’s crispy shallots of texture and some achar for some relieve. It now ranks as one of the top briyani place for me in Singapore. Always love a good plate of briyani. Ordered the chicken briyani for takeaway from this stall located within Hougang Mall. The taste and flavours really blew me away. The spices are not overpowering and balanced just right. The portions are very generous as well - I could hardly finish 1 portion. Will be trying the mutton briyani next time.

Briyani 47 Devil's Chicken Briyani is a must try. If you can only eat one more briyani on earth, let it be from here. Rice super aromatic and delicious with the fried shallots, the chicken meat generous and spicy but not overwhelmingly spicy, the potato was so sedap too! I enjoyed the plating as well and the crispiness of the papadom completes the dish. They also serve various Nasi Lemak dishes as well including Devil's Chicken Nasi Lemak. Will try that one next time as well as their assortment of Appam for dessert! Worth the calories 10/10!

So finally I tried their briyani. And what a long wait it was. By the time my mutton briyani was ready I was hoping that it will be worth the wait. And YES it was! So the guy taking the order was blur. I paid $9.50 for the briyani. We waited a good 20 mins maybe. And then, when I got the plate, presentation was excellent. Mutton was flavourful! Loved the masala. Boiled fried potato was a nice addition. It was quite a big serving so can be shared between 2 I feel. Queue line was a bit chaotic so maybe can have some kinda system. Try to avoid lunch hour too. Stall is situated within the foodies garden at 4th level in Hougang Mall.

I had the mutton biryani. The meat was extremely tender and yummy. Nothing else was above average. Rice average and there's no papadam or egg. For sgd9.50 at a food court, I'd say the meat is worth the price but you can certainly get better biryani elsewhere.

Recommended by my aunties to try this briyani. Was really impressed. The mutton briyani was on point. The fried shallots drizzled on top complemented the dish very well. Will be back often. Happy that I found this hidden gem.

This was introduced by a friend and i ordered a chicken briyani, which tasted really good. There is a distinct and flavourful mix of the spices and curry in each bite and the rice was cooked to perfection. Will be back to try their mutton briyani the next time!

The mutton briani lacked mutton. Only 4 pieces. The mutton was actually quite tender and flavourful. Mutton also has no bones in them. For $9.50 I would expect a little more mutton (5-6 pcs) and some more veg on the side with the usual cracker. Taste wise it’s quite good but not very value for money. Can pass for taste for not for value. Rice is alright. The mutton curry sauce on top is good too. Kinda on the 3 to 3.5* area. Service staff is quite friendly as a saving grace. Atmosphere is usual air conditioned food court. Can be quite packed in lunch and dinner time. Overall, mutton is pretty good. Just need to create a more satisfying package for customers. Some reviews of this place is too harsh.

Tried the Mutton Biryani at Biryani 47. I must say its clearly one of the best I've tried. The meat was soft and succulent, rendang gravy was thick, creamy, rich and full of flavour. The Biryani rice was so good that you could eat it on its own. I the fried Onions was crisp and to top it all, was the fried curry leaves sprinkled as topping to the whole dish. The curry leaves gave the whole biryani dish another dimension of crisp, fresh and spice experience. I included their Sambal quail eggs, which acted as a great compliment to an already great dish. Looking forward to come back to try their Lemak Chicken Rendang next. Gave them a 5 star for food quality. The staff was also polite and patient. (A rare trait in most good restaurants). Gave a lower quality for ambiance as unfortunately, they are located in a Food Court and you would probably have fight for seats during rush hour. But really, Biryani 47 deserves to be in its own Restaurant.

Located at Level 4 Food Court (Foodie Garden) in Hougang Mall. Tasty Chicken Biryani $8.50 and top up $1 for 3 pcs of Papadum. Requested for more gravy & was rejected. Tasty and flavourful Biryani. Meat was tender. will be back to try their mutton Biryani.

The fried chicken briyani really stole the show. I'm usually a mutton fan which is what I ordered on my first 7 visits. Which I also will rate 5/5. But this fried chicken briyani deserves a 6/5 rating.

The Mutton Bryani was really good. Succulent pieces of mutton, marinated in a secret blend of spices and tenderizing agents, cooked to perfection until they melt in your mouth. Each bite reveals layers of flavor, from the earthiness of cumin and coriander to the warmth of cinnamon and cloves, all coming together in perfect harmony. Nestled between the layers of flavorful rice are tender morsels of mutton, each infused with the essence of saffron, giving them a golden hue and an unparalleled richness. 100% recommended!! Definitely must try!!
