Outstanding experience. This a 100 year old restaurant has a very interesting history.Governors,Kings and the elite have been their patrons. One of the finest Biryani I have had in recent times.A must while you are Singapore.

The restaurant has a nice ambience and is air conditioned. Service is quick. The food is average at best however a worthy mention goes to the mutton as it was really tender and moist. Pity there was not much of it. Their papadums are delicious too. But in general we found the food not fragrant or spiced enough, not sure if it’s because we are more used to stronger flavours from other Malay Indian Briyani stalls. We spent $85 for 4 which is pricey, but also to be expected since it’s in a restaurant environment and had tourist trap vibes. Our verdict - eat once can already.

I feel that it's more like to experience the history of this place rather than for the food. Chicken Biryani is slightly average and price wise is definitely on the high side. Will visit the shop again when I have overseas friends visiting but not for normal occasion as there's better biryani out there.

Islamic restaurant is a 96 years old food outlet now run by third generation of Abdul Rahiman family. They primarily serve North Indian cuisine with local Malay/Singaporean adaptation. I have been visiting this place for years and one thing this place is really famous for is their Biryani. We ordered Chicken Biryani, Fish curry, plain rice and Ice Lemon tea during our recent visit. As expected their Biryani was superb with juicy chicken, long grain rice, achar and curry to go along. Quantity was sufficient for one person. Fish curryi was OK. Due to renovation none of the tandoori items like Naan or North Indian dishes like Chicken curry or stew were available. They might take a few weeks to complete renovation. Ice lemon tea was not fresh and should be avoided. Service was fine Internal decor and ambience is retro style and looks beautiful. Simple dinner for two costed SGD 32.5 Overall worth visiting for Biryani and Instagram worthy pics of retro decor.

Upmarket Briyani Restaurant with History I heard grand stories about this restaurant in its hey days in the 1950s. This restaurant is now more than 100 years old and continues serving up sumptuous briyani. Even at 220pm, customers continued to stream in. The mutton briyani I had was definitely 5 star. The decor is charming and different from what you might see in modern restaurants. It's probably the classiest briyani restaurant on the street. Lunch was $20 including a drink. Definitely worth a visit.

I only like the rice which is fluffy and not oily. Chicken texture is like cotton, fish tikka is very salty while masala tea doesn’t have the kick. But ambience is exotic that you feel that you are in overseas.

Nice place when u enter to their shop can smell a strong spices fragrance. Very nice Indonesia style decorations. Feel good and relax taking lunch or dinner here. Super authentic and nice Briyani, taste smooth teh tarik and rosé fragrance bandung. Value for money, will visit again.

The restaurant is 100 years old and the food is very tasty. The service is fast and you don't have to wait long for the food to be brought. The interior is very interesting. High prices, but to be expected because it is in a tourist region, and nothing is cheap in Singapore either.

Had lunch here with some ex-colleagues. The eatery was quite crowded, with mostly tourists and Chinese. We ordered lamb and chicken byrani. The rice was not too heavily spiced, and the meat was cooked well, though could have been a bigger portion. The vegetable pakora was freshly made and was crispy and not oily.

Had chicken briyani to-go for lunch. Had high expectations for the briyani, given the history of the restaurant. Every grain of rice was long, fluffy & evenly cooked. It was not oily & the bright colour really elevates your appetite even further. The taste, however, was a bit underwhelming. Somewhat too light for my liking. The chicken was tender & juicy. Same as the rice, it was somewhat lacking in flavour. If you expect an explosion of spices in each bite, you might be disappointed. The briyani came with a serving of dalcha & cucumber achar. Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of portion & taste. No papadoms were given together with the meal, however. Given the price point ($13), I might argue there are better tasting briyani elsewhere. Not that the dish wasn’t tasty, it just lacked that burst of flavour which was expected from a briyani dish.

Take your money elsewhere. Terrible service. One lady who wears tudung serve with an rbf. Lost my appetite after seeing the face. Not friendly at all. Ordered chicken biryani but gave me dhal for the gravy and say no chicken curry. What in the world. Rice is not even fragrant like how it was. No papadom. This place is rundown. If you want, go to their Desker road outlet. Much better with fresher ingredients.

What a place to have your bryani fix! Absolutely gorgeous interior and quaint atmosphere within brings you back to the day's when Singapore was much different. It's like eating in someone's family museum. In addition, the food was absolutely delicious. I had the Yemeni Lamb Shank Bryani and it was just delectable. The lamb's portion was just too much for me and I ended up having to pack almost half of the rice home. Wonderful experience with my wife there. It's s little pricey but think of it as a place where bryani connoisseurs would go to. Good luck!

Rating: 3.5 / 5 stars 🤩 : clean and comfortable setting 🤧 : poor ventilation, average offerings Part of me feels that it’s an overpriced and glorified mamak, but I don’t dare claim this as I’ve only tried one dish. • Mutton: meat was soft, flavourful and not too gamey. Accompanying gravy was rich, but fairly standard in flavour. • Dhal: slightly flat in flavour, but ingredients were aplenty. • Teh tarik - felt like regular teh. Extremely bland, and seems barely sweetened. The service standard was commendable. The team was attentive and ready to attend to diners. Communication was clear and polite - quite different from its nearby competitors.

This restaurant has a rich history and is beautifully decorated. The boss was very friendly and humble, and went out of his way to open the upper floor for me to visit after I casually mentioned it. His staff also provided impeccable service. Food was delicious too.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, THEY DELIVERED SPOILED FOOD FOR HARI RAYA TO MY HOUSE!! Ordered 15 packs of mutton briyani for $255, along with a $30 delivery charge, from Islamic Restaurant to be delivered for Hari Raya this year. The delivery arrived around 11am, and I placed everything in the refrigerator to keep it fresh until serving time at 1pm. When I took out the food to serve to my guests, all 15 packs of mutton briyani were spoiled and had a strong foul odor. The food had gone bad and was unfit for consumption. I suspect they delivered food that was prepared days ago. Was so embarrassing as all my guests were waiting for lunch and I had to order from a different resturant in the end. Upon enquiring with their management, they do not have any response and simply didn't get back to me regarding any update. Complete disregard for customer satisfaction or health and its clear that they are serving food prepared days ago and neglecting basic food safety standards that explains why they did not get back to me. Extremely disappointing experience. Not only did it ruin everyone's mood, but it also resulted in wasted time and money; and almost jeopardized our health due to the risk of consuming spoiled food Please do not order from them as I suspect they are serving food cooked many days ago and not adhering to food regulations. Such negligence should not be tolerated, and I advice others to avoid experiencing a similar situation. Please order from better vendors out there. Update as of 16 Apr 24: No refund was initiated from the restaurant management side because I posted this review. And they rejected my refund request just because I posted a review of my bad experience. When I requested the manager to expedite the refund, the manager gave an excuse that their accountant already went back home. Delivering spoiled is one thing, but it seems like their customer service needs improvement also.
