This is our go to spot whenever we're around orchard and craving for some finger food. Conveniently located within the food hall in the basement, their fried turnip cake is definitely a highlight of their stall apart from their famous curry chicken puff. Nice outercrust and crispy edges with flavourful and moist interior, makes you keep coming back for more. Their curry chicken puff is also one of the best you can find in sg compared to some bigger brands out there. Flaky pastry and interior is full of curry, such a joy to destroy the entire puff in a few mouthful. Happy to be here and happy to always return for more.

Had the chicken curry here for the first time today. I have to say, it was quite tasty and packed with flavour. The portion was generous too — definitely enough to satisfy even a big stomach 😝. My only suggestion would be to serve it with roti Bengali instead of the French baguette. I think it would give the dish a more local heritage feel and pair better with the curry. The baguette was okay, but roti Bengali would have taken it to another level.

Love their curry puff with its buttery and flakey pastry. Much better than Old Chang Kee nowadays in my opinion. The 3-in-1 with the tasty goreng pisang-like batter is always a treat. I used to always pick up some snacks at their Great World City outlet after classes but unfortunately the stall has since been replaced by another curry puff brand. Now I visit Takashimaya for my fix.

After not eating 1A in years, had one on a whim and it did not disappoint. The curry puff pastry is still so rich and flaky, and the filling is generous. Very satisfying snack. Old Chang Kee may be more famous but taste and value wise, don’t see them topping this.

I've always been a big fan of Old Chang Kee Curry Puffs. In fact, for decades, I never had a doubt that their luscious, savoury, buttery crust was quite simply impossible to dethrone. Then I discovered 1A's by sheer chance and bravado. Ladies and gents, this Chicken curry Puff is downright wicked! All the components are stellar, from the crumbly, tender pastry crust to the chicken curry filling that's quite the umami bomb. Nothing simple here, it's poetry in food engineering! I personally dread putting anything mediocre in my pie hole... anything entering that realm better be amazingly good. So when I wax lyrical to this extent, it's next level and I have to admit, these guys are making history. Granted, that brand name isn't sexy or cool and does not inspire confidence but it's hands down, in my book, the absolute best Curry Puff in the universe. I've sampled the whole shebang of snacks here, from the goreng Pisang (respectable choice if you need fruit) to the fishballs (forgettable). My gob only wants one thing now.... That heavenly Puff. Hey, there you go, a new brand name for them. You're welcome :)
