Saw a queue and did the Singaporean thing, I joined it not really knowing what it was. Did the research while queuing. Queue was about 8 long when I joined. Took about 10mins so not too bad. I ordered the $5 rendang set. The rendang is rich and flavourful but that's probably the only thing worth mentioning. The rest was very forgettable. Worth the wait for rendang fans. Just OK overall.

Uncle is very friendly and portions are generous. Have tried the beef rendang and the ayam pengyet so far and they're absolutely delicious. They're both at $5 each atm, would say it's value for money

Order the mutton curry and it’s only $3.50 The rice is nice n fluffy and the chilli is the da bomb which is very flavourful though very spicy. The chilli is a best for spicy lovers. Just this 2 is reason enough for me the visit the store. The mutton curry is average only and on the heavier side. Saw someone order Ayam penyat which looks good. Will try that next time.

The sotong Hitam is one of the best I’ve eaten in Singapore, the sauce is really really good. Coupled with their lady finger, it’s the bomb!

Reasonably priced nasi padang, the dishes were all quite nice especially the chicken curry. Itbus not full of lemak and that enables you to taste to spices that were being put into the curry will is very nice.

One of the very authentic indo/malay food in this very popular hawker. A big variety of dishes and is quite affordable compared to other stalls. Serving is also generous. I like that the dishes feel very home cooked with heart.

Uncle is very friendly and generous with the portions! For example, for around the same price I got three times more beef rendang compared to the famous nasi padang restaurant near my place, not even exaggerating :O I chose the beef rendang, cassava leaves, some long bean dish that’s not sambal goreng (no tauhu and tempeh), bergedil and tempeh for takeaway. Then decided it wasn’t enough so I went back to add on sotong hitam :P Uncle was a little reluctant to sell to me at first cos he was worried I wouldn’t be able to finish, in the end he specially gave me a $2 portion when its price usually starts from $4–so nice of him! The food’s yummy and tasted comforting and homecooked. Special mentions to the beef rendang that’s rich in coconutty flavour and the fragrant, peppery bergedil that surprised me when I tasted the minced meat inside; I think a lot of stalls just do pure potato these days? But I would be happy to order everything again except maybe the tempeh that was quite average. Everything added up to just $9.50 and made for such an enjoyable weekend meal, would highly, highly recommend.

Asked ChatGPT to rephrase my review in a funny Singapore style and it did not disappoint. We tackled the $10 Nasi Ambeng feast, a true meaty triumvirate for sharing! This dish danced with curry and spice notes, and the portion was so big, it could moonlight as a two-person party. Easily one of the top-notch Nasi Padang adventures we've embarked upon. The Malay maestro at the helm was not only the captain of flavor but also spoke Teochew like a seasoned pro. 11/10, would recommend faster than you can say "more sambal, please!"

Came for a weekday lunch. Maimon Nasi Padang is situated in Serangoon Garden Market, opposite Chomp Chomp. Queue was already long, even at 1145am, but it's pretty fast moving. Malay uncle taking order was super friendly, always joking with his customers. Menu wise is non cluttered as they are listed in a number order. Ordered set 1, the ayam merah set, i.e. chicken cooked in a red colored gravy, for $5.50 which is very affordable. The chicken used is definitely the fresh variety, not frozen. Chicken was lightly fried before finished in the red gravy. Gravy is tangy and slightly sweet, very flavourful, like the nice ones you get to sample in Malay weddings. The accompanying sambal goreng comes recommended (reading from the reviews). Though nice, am not able to rate it as not exactly a fan of sambal goreng. Rice quantity served is just nice, and it was cooked fluffy. The bagedil (potato fritters) is definitely home made and is packed with flavor. Potato content is generous. Lastly the homemade sambal, is the right blend of sweet and sour, and of the watery and not thick variety. Note: it also packs a punch, i.e., very, very spicy. Separately, also had the Indonesian tahu telur as a side order. Size wise is just right to share for 2-3 pax. The tofu cake, the size of a human palm, is coated with an egg batter, cooked crispy on the exterior while keeping the interior tender and bouncy. The accompanying peanut gravy is splendid, with the right amount of sweetness to make it decadent. The tahu is topped with vegetable shavings of carrot and cucumber and an accompaniment of small Indonesian crackers. Overall, Maimon Nasi Padang though listed as Indonesian Padang dishes, is more tuned/catered to a local Malay palette. This is not to be taken as a negative slight however, as the dishes still stands out for being very flavorful. Definitely recommended.

Very delicious food. Ordered ayam merah and sambal goreng but the ayam was a bit tough and the sauce can be improved. The sambal goreng was over cooked. The cabbage was very delicious though. Hub ordered mutton briyani and he said it was very delicious. The tahu telur with peanut sauce was very delicious and enjoyable too. Yummy! 👍🏻
