Encik Tan is a half food court, half fast food restrurant. It’s like you take a food court, miniaturize it, and put it right next to an actual food court. I swear, these outlets seem to always have an actual food court. This isn’t a bad thing just a thing I noticed. The food here was quite tasty actually, the claypot chicken rice was fantastic and that’s just from one stall, imagine the others, and I only paid $5.50 for that! I don’t like how some rice got stuck onto the claypot but that’s probably just me. The ONE thing I hate though is that the tables are ALWAYS dirty, like it seems like the tables either have a 90% water 10% ??? puddle on it or a new tattoo. Besides that the workers are alright, if they we’re replaced with mindless robots I would have never noticed but that isn’t a problem really. Overall, good food, ugly tables.

Encik Tan over at compass one has been around ever since the mall undergo a major revamp. I would say that this outlet is of average size as compared to other encik tan outlets in othe locations. Seats are very very limited and hard to come by if you happen to passby during peak hours in the evening. Food choices wise, it has a wide variety of stalls such as their signature curry rice, fish soup, char kway teo, carrot cake, western food, claypot dishes as well. Sadly, they do not have my favourite sesame chicken claypot here at this outlet. I would love to have them bring it in though, since they already have claypot dishes here in this outlet. Taste wise, I would say that it is on par with the rest of their encik tan outlet island wide. So do drop by if you're I the vicinity and craving for a plate of curry rice.

Fried kway teow stall service very bad. Totally disregard customer waiting for their turn to order. Service guy has no customer manners at all. Don't even bother if I ever wanted to order. Have to go one counter before to order but was told to order direct from this as stall service guy. Worst senerio was told only has kway teow and no hokkien mee...Time 1235pm . Wasting my time standing in line and feel like a fool. Such service personal should be sack immediately.

Overall decent food but the service staffs at claypot and curry rice are total unfriendly and push away business. If you are not ready to serve, be flexible to take my order while I am willing to wait for my takeaway. Or at least have the courtesy to place a notice indicating ready to serve time.

Bad attitude noted from one of the staffs selling Curry Chicken Rice on a non-busy weekday. Service could be better, even McDonalds have a higher standard of customer service comparatively despite being a fast food chain of similar price points.

Went to Encik Tan compass one for lunch. Queue up at the claypot counter. The cook was very unhappy and showed attitude. The counter outside with cutleries and sauce area crawling with cockroaches. Tried to inform her but she shouted back and was not happy. Spoke to the outlet manager, he said he will handle. Left the place with disgust, saw they did nothing but continue with business. Very poorly managed.

First time havin curry rice at encik tan (yes, i usually prefer pork chop with curry rice) and it already gv me a bad exp. This one pathetic amount of extra curry cost $1. The staff nvr mentioned abt the extra cost, only when i paid and ask for receipt.then she reveal extra curry cost $1. Dont u think it shld b mentioned beforehand?? Gv them back the curry, staff gv attitude, courtesy is definitely dead here. My first and my last gettin a food frm this establishment. Never again.

$6.80 for the rice and $1.80 for Teh c less sugar. Frankly the tea tasted much better than some established brands.

The food is always consistently mediocre here -- more often than not it's nothing to write home about. The fishball noodles, though tasty, are not inherently special; and the claypot chicken rice, even with its chili and dark sauce, does not hit the spot. Perhaps it's because the chicken served is really just 70% skin and 30% meat. However, I'd recommend the chicken curry rice ($6) -- my go-to whenever I find myself at Encik Tan. Sure, it may not be a health food...but if you are looking to have a satisfying meal, this is it. Rice, a generous portion of chicken drumstick, a deep-fried egg and some stir-fried cabbage -- all engulfed in a fragrantly sweet and savoury curry. Sinfully delicious. The ambience of this outlet was like a classic hawker centre, moved indoors. Crowded, a little disorienting, not the cleanest and noisy, but does the job. About service, most of the staff here are friendly and professional. But in my experience, there was one stall server who was very rude and unpleasant.

Have been a fan ever since my fren intro me this curry rice. 1st time eating at this renovated outlet with parents though. ✨ Fried Chicken Drumstick Set Their curry is just nice for me as it is not that spicy and is much closer to Japanese curry. Nothing mind-blowing, just pure comfort food 😍😍😍.

WE were CHASED OUT literally from Encik Tan Compass One outlet tonight at 9PM by the cleaning crew, specifically the lady cleaning crew. I fully get it when we understood from the male cleaning crew that they will be closed at 9:30pm, and from 8:45pm, the cleaning crew in charge of the shop front, started cleaning the tables and putting all chairs on the table. When we saw that, we conscientiously ate faster so that we could finish our chicken wontan noodle quickly, so as not to delay the cleaning crew's work. So when we finally quickly "poured" our noodles into our tummy, I was left with my lime juice. The male cleaning crew came over to clear our plates, left with my drink for me to finish. Then the lady cleaning crew simply walked towards our table, stood in front of us, in front of all the other customers who were still eating there, to chit chat at home, not at Encik Tan. We were like huh? She repeated herself 2 times to make sure we heard her loud and clear (despite her with mask on). So I signaled to her i was trying to finish my drink, and she literally chased us out by saying, you can bring your drink outside to drink, no need to drink here. And repeated this 2 or 3 more times!! All the others stared at us. She literally chased us out so that she can clean the table and put our chairs on the table. Totally embarrassing situation. We quickly took my drink and literally left in a totally awkward way trying to take our packed tissues and etc quickly and leave. I do not expect excellent service when having meals at Encik Tan, knowing where we are, but I do not expect to be chased out like that either just because the crew needs to leave for the day on the dot. Much as I love the food served at Encik Tan, I do not think I want to go there anymore. NO MORE ENCIK TAN! You have done well! 1 customer gone for good. Thank you.

A pathetic amount of food for an exorbitant price. The claypot rice ($6) was literally half a bowl of white rice and ONE SPOON of chicken. No vegetables too! I thought the claypot noodles ($6) would be better but no. Despite the picture claiming it came with an egg, I got none. All I had were some fishcakes and plain noodles. So dishonest!! Aside from the food, the whole ambiance was terrible. Crowded, noisy, dirty. I had to wait for nearly 30 minutes for the food to arrive. I'm never visiting this place again. And if you want to avoid a disappointing experience like mine, heed my advice and steer clear from this place at ALL COSTS.

Extremely rude cleaning service staff at Encik tan compassone. I was out alone for dinner with my 6 weeks old infant and Down syndrome brother. It was late at about 850pm as I had to send my mother to SKH ED prior. Bought curry rice for myself and my brother to eat, and left my little one in the stroller with my brother. As I was bringing the plates over to my brother who was taking care of my little one, this aunty suddenly grabbed and shoved my stroller to a corner, only after I instinctly reached out to protect my little girl before she snapped saying that she was mopping the floor and the stroller was in the way. But the restaurant was so big, did she have to mop that table at that time? Upon which, I moved to the outer table to accommodate my stroller, understanding that it might be in the way. While transferring the plates as my brother helped to push my little girl, the aunty rushed towards my brother. She then ordered us to push the stroller out of the restaurant as she was mopping the floor. She was clearly picking on us as she was just mopping the inner part of the restaurant but followed us out. I didn’t want to create a scene and did so, parking my stroller in the outside of the restaurant as me and my brother ate a quick dinner. I would say we ate rather fast within 10-15min, when I was left with just my egg. She came over trying to clear our plates, and grabbed my plate while I was resting for a short bit before eating the egg. It was a rude shock which caught me off guard, as I stopped her saying that I wanted to finish the egg. She still commented “if you cannot finish just throw away, just an egg only”. This experience left me appalled by the shear rudeness, lack of empathy and borderline mistreatment of this service staff towards myself, my brother and my little girl.

Food was subpar along with terribly rude staff (featured in the picture) who threw my packet of claypot rice when I was collecting it. Not only that, when I asked for chilli, her response was short and offhand. This was my first time experiencing such atrocious service and I do believe that the other staff from the other stalls are actually courteous. Hope the management can look into improving the quality of customer service.

Know that they have different staff done the job, this time was cook by a lady, chicken was not well cooked, a kind of strong chicken smell, more skin then meat, rice n taste are the same, hope management can improve staff culinary skill, at least chicken have to be fully cooked.
