One of my favourite places for great and aesome food. This is the second time I have been here after Covid and their food is still scrumptious. Price is still reasonable as compared with some of the restaurants nearby selling similar food. Waitors both young and old were friendly and kind - Kudos to them. Will be back again...soon. 👍😋

Nice environment and the food taste great, the portion for every dish is small for 2-3 pax. The price is reasonable and serving are fast, the service by their staffs will make you feel great too.

Very accommodating staff, authentic peranakan interior, and hearty food! Really recommend the beef rendang, crispy kang kung salad, thai style prawn cakes and fish maw soup as these were to die for! Would absolutely be paying another visit after feeling so welcome with a wonderful feast that screams home, and at the same time exceptional.

This restaurant is like a very atas peranakan museum but it actually offers very affordable halal “Indonesian and Thai” cuisine. Food was not fantastic but good enough for the prices. Service was OK.

A hidden Gem in Singapore! Nice place, nice food and superb service. We ordered tahu teluer, tom yum soup, chicken buah keleuk, sambal kang kong and chendol. Food are Delicious and authentic. By far one of the best peranakan food we have tried. Chendol is super nice, a must try! The decor is peranakan style, very nostalgic and great place for photo taking. Food are served fast and their staff are very friendly make us feel warm and welcome. :) Thumbs up! Will definitely visit again!

Not much food pictures because too tasty and hungry to eat immediately. 😂 Jokes aside I appreciate their innovation and effort to making their dishes as they planned to taste as possible. I would say their dishes has many influences from Chinese, Malaysia, Indonesia, even Thailand. Very innovative. Their interior aesthetics were so picture worthy.

Amazing food and lovely interior with lots of nice Perenakan heritage here. Absolutely love the Tahu Telor, Prawn Cake and Mee Sua, and also a few other good dishes too like Crispy Kang Kong Salad, Olive Fried rice, and Chilli Prawn! The owner is very friendly too. Would highly recommend this place 😊

Great atmosphere, very interesting place. The service is very nice - however, the food is very hit and miss : the beef rendang was a let down (the meat was very fatty and not cooked enough to be melting) - the aubergine though was delicious. The omelette was overpriced and greasy. Quite on the higher end price wise compared to the actual quality of ingredients.

This is 1 of those restaurants where you remember the place because of its decor, rather than the food. Serving acceptable tasting muslim Thai cuisine which is also reasonably priced, This gem is hidden in the bustling Kandahar Street, which means parking is also at times a problem. But being situated at Kandahar, also meant, you could do your shopping and photo taking at the nearby Haji Lane too. Bumbu is probably owned by a peranakan, as the decor it has, does take you back to the old days. We felt like we were all eating in a museum. Our entire meal cost S$170 for 5pax and it included a steam fish, so have to say that it was reasonable. If you want an instagrammable place with nice ambience, we would definitely recommend them.

Food was delicious and good value for money. The tahu telur was yummy, steamed fish in soy sauce was well done and I appreciated they took out some of the bones already. The beef rendang was well cooked and really tender. The buah keluak was okay as well. Service was really friendly. White rice is unlimited. Spent a little over 100 for 4 people. The place is interesting- it’s set in an old shophouse so the decor is interesting. Tables upstairs are separated by dividers so you get some privacy.

I like Bumbu restaurant’s interior design, is unique and Peranakan decorating. Foods are nice and mouthwatering. I would recommend chili prawns, the gravy is flavourful. I will definitely come back to try other dishes! This place is suitable for company, family and friends gathering, why not?? There have set up the beautiful partition so it gives us privacy when dining.

Had a great experience here this evening! First time here and was impressed with the service and food quality. While the portions seemed a bit small, it allowed for us to order more variety! We tried the chicken buah keluak (love the spoons that came with the dish to help with the nut!), signature rendang, chap Chye, prawn egg, fish maw soup, and ended off with chendol! Everything tasted very authentic! We really enjoyed the sambal belachan too, which was complimentary! Will be back again to try more dishes in future! Service was excellent, and the interior was beautiful!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bumbu Restaurant in the Arab/Muslim neighborhood of Singapore, and it was a unique experience. The restaurant’s decor is a refreshing blend of Thai and Indonesian antiques, which added a distinctive touch to the ambiance. The food at Bumbu is a fusion of Thai and Indonesian flavors, which made for an interesting culinary journey. I ordered the Tom Kha soup, which was incredibly flavorful and packed with chicken. I also tried the Thai-style chili basil, although it was a bit on the salty side. The olive fried rice was a delightful addition to the meal. One of the standout aspects of Bumbu was their excellent service. The staff was friendly and attentive, which enhanced the overall dining experience. In conclusion, Bumbu Restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for a unique blend of Thai and Indonesian flavors in a beautifully decorated setting. I had a great time, and I believe you will too!

Love the ambience and the decoration. Beef rendang is good, very tender and flavourful. Fried kangkong is interesting, paired well with the sauce that is slightly spicy and tangy. Telur tahu is nice. Must try the sambal (caution, 🔥). I found the durian chendol too thick (coconut cream) for my liking.

My girlfriend invited me for lunch and she suggested this place. We arrived at about 130pm and were ushered to our table shortly. At that point, only 1 table was occupied, and I do hear noises on the 2nd floor. Interior decorations were like how you would have seen if you googled this place. The menu was quite extensive and user-friendly. It was categorised into Appetizers, Soup, Meat, Desserts and Beverages. Two of us, we ordered 4 dishes as follows: 1. Tauhu Telor - soft and fluffy eggs - egg tofu were served underneath of the eggs 2. Cereal Soft Shell Crab - nothing to shout out - it was pretty normal and thought the soft shell crab was little thin and has not much bite into it 3. Chap Chye - vegetables were tasty and cooked till soft. - not overly salted, just right 4. Ayam Buah Keluak - 1 drum stick and a chicken thigh were served - felt the rempah that was cooked with the chicken wasn't as flavourful as I thought it will be. Food + a lime juice cost = $73.05

The food seriously tastes delicious. We were actually not that hungry as we had a heavy breakfast. But due to the food that tastes so good, we finish up everything! The ambience is great with peranakan vintage decor. The staff were helpful, friendly and efficient. It's Halal and highly recommended!

Once you stepped into this place you know that the owners put in dedication for this place to be as authentic peranakan as possible, you can also tell the staffs are happy to work here with their friendly service. The is good but not great, my Buah Keluak lacks the oooomph factor… the sambal chili that I paid $1 for is not spicy but only sweet…. The saving dish for tonight was the fish maw soup and fried soft shell crab ordered. Hope the next tome i am back, the taste can be much much much sharpened. Rice was free flow, total damage for 2 pax was $76.
