Not sure what’s with the terrible reviews for this place because I love it!!! Come here at least once a month. Must haves: chicken cutlet curry rice and minced meat noodles/ fish ball noodles I have high expectations for both and although they are not the hawker centre standard, for the price point + clean and air conditioned place, it’s really worth it! I must say that the staff are not the most efficient at cooking, but Encik Tan is a great place to find hawker food without having to melt under the heat. The place is always super clean and tidy and Aunty always gives me extra curry upon request.

Staff are very rude and have no patience. The manager in red i presume.. Are shouting over the customers.. What kind of service is this??! If they cannot handle the menu then dont put it there. We went there for breakfast but no breakfast toast set. No bread or half boil eggs in the morning? One of the staff cannot even speak english. Even your prata is instant prata i also can make at home. Poor service poor outlet.. Worst outlet i have ever been trgh!!

Clean tables, air-conditioned, plenty of seats on weekday lunch. Service fast and organised, made order and cashless payment. Very good portions for the price. Hand washing basin right beside tray return station. Very thoughtful.

Just had dinner at the new Encik Tan outlet here at Downtown East. This outlet is huge! It’s also bright and has a lot of nicely spaced out tables. Ordered the Salted Egg Chicken Claypot Rice. It was not bad, something new to try. Make sure to mix the salted egg and sauce well with the rice. Adding the orange chili will give it an extra kick. This place can get quite busy during peak hours.

The real bummer about this place is the staff and service. Not sure its because or lack of staff( 4 staff manning the counter), perhaps not enough rotation for rest?? im not sure.. Or maybe because they lack training. To start off, i ordered 7 Ice Teh O, the drinks were all very bitter, with little to no sugar. Basically my Teh O looks like Kopi O🥲 At 430pm on Sunday, alot of food were no longer available. Food waiting time were also long 10-15mins.

Service staff not friendly. The curry rice is acceptable. The Cabbage is nice but the egg is over cooked. The squid is very spicy and it is chewy. Asked and they oblige with additional curry gravy.

All the workers here , especially the young ones, displayed a bo-chap attitude. They made you wait at the counter then slowly came over to serve you like we owe them a living. Today tried their chicken cutlet curry rice and really regretted big time. The rice was uncooked fully. So hard to eat. Came back to office, my boss told me this happened (uncooked rice) happened many times already. Ate half way, gave up. Won't come again.

SERVED SPOILT FOOD Chicken in claypot rice was sour, taste like gone bad and rice was overcooked almost like porridge. Didn’t bother getting another one as will never come back here again. Carrot cake was mush also and had too much sweet soy sauce. Feel like ate baby food for this meal. BOYCOTT.

Encik Tan Singapore is a gem of a restaurant! From the moment we stepped in, we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service. The food was simply outstanding—every dish bursting with authentic flavors and made with the freshest ingredients.

Used to always order the Wantan Mee near where I worked; it was bang for your buck. Tried this new outlet. Very spacious, clean, good lighting, colourful chairs. Air-conditioning was just nice, not too cold. It was 7pm & many seats were empty. Service was fast & my food was prepared quickly but the counter guy seemed a bit grumpy. Didn't expect the chicken cutlet rice set to be on a big plate since it was only $5. Chicken Cutlet: Crispy. Rice: Fresh & warm. Curry: Not bad. Vege: It is what it is. Fried Egg: Yes! Overall, great.
