The food here tastes better than at the Pahang Street branch in the Kampong Glam area. The rendang is cooked in the authentic Padang way: really dark, dry, chewy (almost like beef jerky) and suffused with the unpleasantly cloying scent of coconut oil. Truly authentic, but not to my taste. Most of the dishes we ordered as well as the rice, the serving plates and dinner plates were cold, almost chilled from the air conditioning. The coldness gave the sambal sotong a clammy, almost slimy mouth-feel and an extra fishy smell. They really should invest in some heating lamps or a bain-marie.

Kind of disappointed.. The beef rendang is so tough (unsure if its because its 6pm and they have been made since morning).

Nasi Padang is not my usual fare but the smells coming from this restaurant as I was passing made me want to come in and order something. I’m glad I did. Beef rendang had the texture of pulled pork. One of the best around. Even the sayur was soft and tasty. I would recommend this place for authentic nasi padang.

Since the new owner . Everything changes Use to be my favourite place nasi padang Now just forget about it . I dont know what happened. Food is really bland. Not sure why there is so much love for the place. Service was also very average. Left feeling very disappointed.

Have been looking forward to try for many months at the recommendation of my Indonesian friend. As others have said, it is extremely expensive. Paid almost $30 for 2 pax. One piece of chicken is $5? Service was also unfriendly with the lady rudely replying when I asked what dish was what (there is no label). Didnt give 1 star as the dishes were generally tasty with authentic Indonesian taste. Worse of all, the beef had a foul smell. Got diarrhoea the day after 😡
